I'm just taking a shot at this question? Parable? Anyways I'll see your Num 31:22 with a 1Cor 3:11-13 only the good shall abide in the fire; b.)We were held by a strong enemy, but praise the Lord for breaking asunder even something as strong as death; c) Sometimes I don't think this proverb is a positive one. the sound of iron on iron is not a pleasent one, and the Hebrew word for "the countenance"(KJV) is face or expression of your face. d) God isn't happy with some things going on around here and He is going to thresh, like at a harvest and then He is going to burn the chaff. And like what was spoken of in 1Cor those things(wood, hay, stubble) are not going to abide.
"For the Lord Thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God"

One translation of Proverbs 27:17 reads this way: "As one piece of iron sharpens another, so friends keep each other sharp." "How is a person’s face “sharpened”? One individual may succeed in sharpening the intellectual and spiritual state of another, just as a piece of iron can be used to sharpen a blade made of the same metal. For instance, if we should become depressed over some disappointment, another person’s encouragement can be very uplifting. Our sad countenance can thus change for the better, and we can be enlivened for renewed zealous activity."* I hope this was helpful.

I am in a men's group and this scripture is used in an accountability context. Men in a true accountability setting will hold each other to a higher degree of integrity. They will sharpen one another.

Do you know this one?
,,,and unto thee commeth a great blow and stunneth thine heart. For hither unto I Am He,the Alpha and the Omega. For I am cloven unto thee with great misfortune. For it is your portended recourse that ye be lessened unto man.Thou art cursed in thine own heart.Wicked be thou spawn and woe be unto those that shall not hear.
Can you tell me the scripture?
