Many times I've watched a show and someone is buying a car, but the price of the car is not mentioned. The customer will ask the price of the car, but instead of simply stating the price, the salesman will write it down on a piece of paper and show it to the customer. Then the customer will write down a counter offer on another piece of paper. Does anyone know why tv shows do this instead of simply having the characters verbally state the price?

In some commercials, they show you the Deluxe model with all the bells and whistles but list the price of the vehicles starting at just $name-a-price-here. If they showed us the price of the model shown in commercials, alot of people would have heart attacks.
