I don't believe there is a purgatory but let's say that I'm wrong and there really is a purgatory. What if you go there and after a while people forget about you and stop praying for you? Wouldn't you rather go strait to Heaven? Wouldn't it be better to accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior and know for sure that you're going to Heaven?

Hebrews 9:27 " And it is appointed unto man once to die , after this the judgment ". Purgatory is non scriptural , it is a man made up idea .If we could pray someone to heaven then why did Jesus suffer so much , shed his innocent blood and die on the cross for then ?

Well sooner or later you'll pay your debts, and be totally cleansed. Prayer just speeds up the process. Those in purgatory are WITHOUT A DOUBT going to heaven. For those in purgatory, heaven is the final destination (you might not be totally aware of what the doctrine of purgatory exactly is, as a lot of Protestants aren't). Purgatory is for those who have accepted Jesus, and are on their way to heaven.

If you are in Purgatory you DO know for sure that you are going to heaven because only the saved are in Purgatory. Even though these people are judged as saved, they died with a measure of spiritual baggage that prevented them from going straight to heaven because, as the Bible tells us, nothing unclean can come into God's presence. The Bible tells us that those who have not rejected God outright or lived lives of serious sin can still be saved, "but only as by passing through fire". This period of purification described in the Bible is called Purgatory because purgation, that is purification, is its purpose. Christians have accepted this spiritual truth for 2,000 years. Only Protestants have rejected this core Christian belief, along with many others. Luther introduced the novel idea that those who die in a state of spiritual impurity have their sins "covered over", like "dung hills covered with snow". In other words they are smuggled into heaven while still spiritually filthy, but outwardly appearing clean. God's Church however has always taught that we are actually made clean and pure before entering heaven.

Well, you're right there is no such thing as purgatory nor Limbo. Most people will go to heaven even those who we think may not even be there will be there. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your savior and have admitted that He died for your sins and also have repented of your sins then you don't have anything to worry about.

The catholic Church prays for those in Purgatory at every Mass:

"Remember our brothers and sisters (Lord) who have gone to their rest in the hope of rising again; bring them and all the departed into the light of your presence. Have mercy on us all; make us worthy to share eternal life, with Mary, the virgin mother of God, with the apostles, with all the saints who have done your will throughout the ages."

If you do not have faith in Jesus Christ as your means of salvatiuon, you will not be going through Purgatory on your way to Heaven.

You must remeber that Purgatory is ONLY FOR THE SAVED. It is NOT a second chance, and it is NOT a third place. You could say it is the "doormat" in front of heaven's door where you have to wipe your feet before you go in. (Poor analogy, but you get the point.)

The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines purgatory as a "purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven," which is experienced by those "who die in God’s grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified" (CCC 1030). It notes that "this final purification of the elect . . . is entirely different from the punishment of the damned" (CCC 1031).

The purification is necessary because, as Scripture teaches, nothing unclean will enter the presence of God in heaven (Rev. 21:27) and, while we may die with our mortal sins forgiven, there can still be many impurities in us, specifically venial sins and the temporal punishment due to sins already forgiven.

When we die, we undergo what is called the particular, or individual, judgment. Scripture says that "it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment" (Heb. 9:27). We are judged instantly and receive our reward, for good or ill. We know at once what our final destiny will be. At the end of time, when Jesus returns, there will come the general judgment to which the Bible refers, for example, in Matthew 25:31-32: "When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats." In this general judgment all our sins will be publicly revealed (Luke 12:2–5).

Augustine said, in The City of God, that "temporary punishments are suffered by some in this life only, by others after death, by others both now and then; but all of them before that last and strictest judgment" (21:13). It is between the particular and general judgments, then, that the soul is purified of the remaining consequences of sin: "I tell you, you will never get out till you have paid the very last copper" (Luke 12:59).

purgatory does not exist. you either go straight to heaven or straight to hell when you die. there's no "in between"
you had your chance while on earth to accept salvation from Jesus and if you missed your chance then you're paying for it in hell. no one else can send you to heaven. only faith in Jesus and knowing Him can get you to Heaven
