The taskbar is part of Microsoft Windows's graphical user interface. In Windows XP, it is by default the blue bar on the bottom of the screen where active programs appear as button, with the one you're working with looking like it's pushed in. It is also home to the Start button, Quick Launch, and Notification Area. You can change the color or style by customizing the Windows theme. In earlier edtions of Windows, the Start button on the Taskbar was rectangular and had the old Windows Logo on it. The taskbar was also gray.
