Just because a person is equipped physically to make a baby, it doesn't mean that they are equipped mentally or emotionally to do it.

to those curious, i have made a conscious decision not to have children until i am fully ready and capable of raising a person who will be a contribution to society (that is, if i am even able to have children at all...it's still in limbo).

to the devil's advocate: having money does NOT automatically make a person a good parent. this question isn't about money or bought education....

heres my theory on this. smart people are cautious when having sex meaning they use condoms until they are sure they are ready and have planned and saved money...etc. stupid people are careless when having sex and that kind of behavior pretty much ensures pregnancy. under this theory (excluding accidental pregnancys where planning/caution was being used correctly) there will me more stupid people with children than smart people, and eventually more stupid people in general. most stupid people do not know they are stupid, therefore they are too stupid to understand that they shouldnt have children.

A question I often ask myself...My boyfriend's kid's "mom" left them LITERALLY on the doorstep to be with another guy. She said she was going to the store one day and just never came back...unfortunately she has more children (one of which has physical and mental disabilities.) She lives about 20 minutes away from us now and shows up randomly about every 4-6 weeks for a "visit" but then ends up with some excuse of why she can't be with the kids longer. She has even said to me that she is close to fed up with the other kids she has and is ready to leave again! Just another one of those women who should not be ALLOWED to have children! So sad.

Simple, God doesn't generally choose who can and cant be parents. It is up to society to help the little children of the world if they are being abused or neglected. I did, I took my grandson away from my daughter because she wasn't ready to be a mom, and was unfit. He now lives with his father.

Well you have half the schools providing sex protection. To girls as young as 11 years of age. The school system is destroying culture by mixing with wrong beliefs.
You really can't live the way everyone wants you to. It's a social destruction.

That is a problem the world over.
Where do you draw the line tho? Shoudl poor people get to have kids? How about REALLY poor people (like in Africa). How about people without college degrees? Just playing devils advocate. =P

I agree with you 100%. Look at all the dimwits on this planet. Hard to believe that each one of them represents a single f#ck.
They do it because it feels good or because they think they can be better parents than their own parents (without doing any of the actual thinking).
God bless this planet.

You need a license to drive but no license to bring a human life, which in some way affects us all, into the world..
Its crazy I know, but who are you to judge?
I know its a free country... Do you have children of your own?

It used to be important to reproduce...so we didn't die out
Now we have control of the environment (mass producing of food, economies that allow privileged to get rich...expansion). We use to reproduce at a early age (cause we where dieing at young ages)
Now we live longer...
Nothing has changed...mentality wise
We still reproduce...as if we where all going to die ala...old ages...
Things have changed....but out dated attitudes about reproduction....still in the dark ages

Yes, but nature doesn't really think whether someone is emotionally ready, only physically.

some people are selfish and once that baby arrives they think its still all about them.. Its sad that kids have to pay the price for these immature "parents" that won't grow up and be the mom or dad that they're suppose to be.
