Perhaps mortality and the concept of God are related in some way?

I see a belief in God as a coping mechanism for death. It makes you feel better to say that someone has gone to a better place rather than thinking they are gone for good. However, a belief in God is also used to explain the workings of the world. I think in an immortal world, perhaps, overtime God would become extinct as science took God's place.

I highly doubt that if we were immortal we would have a god. If you were not afraid of dying, would you really care where your soul went?

Human beings are immortal.
They will never cease to exist.
Some will exist eternally in Heaven.
Some will exist eternally in Hell.
Are you beginning to see the need for God?

If reality were different everything would be different
We are not immortal in this life, and it is not going to change.
We do have eternal life - where we spend it is answered by who we say that Jesus is.
