I worked in the medical field 4 14 years and it was in pediatrics I'm not a doctor but the pediatrician that i worked with he would tell the patients that they can alternate with Motrin give Tylenol every 4 to 6 hours and if fever comes back again then u will give the Motrin in substitute of the Tylenol then you give the Motrin every 6 to 8 hours. If your baby had the fever more then 5 to 7 days he must have an infection somewhere. A fever that high for a 9 month old is high to me.

Best thing to do is get him to a Dr. Any fever is not good for small children. You really can not wait any amount of time if they are not keeping down any solid foods or liquids. He could easily become dehydrated making symptoms worse. Take it from me when my baby was 5 months old she ran a fever and we took her to the Dr. and they did blood work. As soon as the blood work came back we were told to go straight to the emergency room b/c she had a kidney infection and if we would have waited 12 more hours she wouldn't be with us anymore. Not trying to scare you, but it is always better to be safe than sorry!! Hope this helps

babies tolerate fevers a lot better than adults. If he vomits, then don't give him anything by mouth for 8 hours, this gives his tummy a chance to calm down. Then start giving him clear liquids only like watered down apple juice, or pedialyte, and continue to give him the tylenol every four hours, a tepid bath will help too. If he can keep the clear liquids down for 8 hours then you can start back with his formula or breast milk or whatever you are feeding him. The doctor should be consulted if his fever goes over 102 or if it persists longer than three days.

You can alternate childrens ibuprofen, but if his fever goes over 102, get him into a clinic or ER, because infants have poor temperature control. Also, have as little clothing on him as possible, you may have to take off everything but the diaper. If he remains about the same over the weekend, you will need to get him in to the doctor on Monday, as this is too long for an infant to have these symptoms. Also, check his breathing...if you hear any unusual breath sounds, take him to the ER ASAP, because pneumonia can be severe and sudden.

You need to get the baby in to the Dr. Make sure he gets enough fluid. Fever/vomiting/Tylenol dehydrates.

For an adult,101.5 is high, but not for an infant, its probably some sort of infection, and he does need to be seen, untill then, keep giving him the tylenol according to the directions.

I would keep giving him the tylonal and fluids as much as he can take. And get him an appointment in the morning. If fever gets much higher I would get him in a cool bath. any higher than 103.0 I woud take him to ER.

He should probably be seen, but fevers are not always bad.
It is the body's way of fighting OFF the infection or invasion of germs. It means his immune system is working correctly!
