Go for it sweetie & get back to us when you've seen a little more of life.
You'll hate sitting beside your aunt's bed & telling her you knew it all along - but if you follow your own rules for 70 years you'll have something of value to tell your niece.

maybe you should do a lot more research before you make such statements. I too have breast cancer and Ive always ate a balanced meal, and also ate many foods that supposedly keep you from getting cancer. always lead a active life, never been sick or in the hospital other than giving birth. In my opinion I believe everyone has cancer cells in their body and something triggers these cell to start growing. If you believe everything that you hear you might as well lay down and let a truck run you over. Because everything seems to cause cancer. (air that we breath) (sun) (foods) (stress) (water that we drink) (power lines) (chemicals that we use everyday). do you think that by now with all the research and money that is raised to find a cure for the common cold, they haven't found the cure. I believe that the pharmaceutical company's would have to close down if they found cures or let cures out. These are just my personal opinions. I guess everyone has their own opinions. Don't mean to be ugly, but what do you think.

While having a healthy lifestyle will definetely reduce your chances of being ill with any disease, there absolutely no evidence to say that being a vegan or eating low fat food will prevent or cure cancer (or anything else!). In fact, a good friend of mine is currently battling breast cancer and she has always been very fussy about only eating healthy food (organic vegetarian). Most vegans and people on low fat diets do not eat a balaced diet. A certain (reasonably small) amount of meat, fats and oils in your diet actually help your body to work better.
Also, there was some research done that suggests that soy products may actually increase the likelyhood of getting breast cancer. If you haven't been eating meat OR soy (eg tofu), chances are you haven't been getting enough protein, which has not been linked to cancer, just to other illnesses and conditions.
Be sure to watch out for the chemical additives and sugar content in 'low fat' food. Food additives have to be tested before being used, but long term effects are often unknown, just like the long term effects of smoking that have only comparitively recently been discovered.
There are many factors that we don't know about cancer, but it can strike anyone even if they have had a healthy life. If you really want to reduce your chances of getting cancer, always wear sunscreen, don't smoke, maintain a healthy lifestyle and hope for the best.

I am a vegan who got breast cancer, so I disprove your 'theory' all by myself.
It was not hereditary, in my large and predominantly female family I am the first and only one to have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
There is no evidence at all that avoiding (or eating) particular foods prevents breast cancer or any other cancer, much less cures it. People make these 'facts' up to fit in with their existing prejudices, as you have done.
Find out a few facts about cancer before you go running off at the mouth blaming people for their own cancer. NOBODY knows what causes cancer.
If avoiding animal products prevented breast cancer I'd still have two breasts.
You make vegans look silly with this ill-informed nonsense.

You act like people with breast cancer bring it upon themselves. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at 34 years after living a very healthy life. My sister was diagnosed with skin cancer at 24...we were raised near a petroleum plant. I was told I was too young to have breast cancer, but by the time it was diagnosed it spread to other organs. Yep, I'm now "disfigured," but I just call them battle scars.
Let's not blame the victims...let's find a cure so nobody else has to go through what I've been through.

Animal products do not cause cancer in and of themself. However, the steriods, constant dosage of antibiotics and anti virals they receive, and other chemicals do. I suggest going organic or growing/raising your own rather than completly vegan as a health choice to prevent cancer.

I'm sure that a diet like that would help. I don't see that it would prevent breast cancer in everyone. It runs in my family. Also there is no proof that it would cure the disease. If only it would.

It's awsome you're eating healthy. Good for you.
Unfortunately, speaking of cancers in general...it's not just what we eat and drink it's also the air we breathe, the insecticides/pesticides on fruits and veggies(you didn' mention you ate organic)..just pollution in general..maybe exposure to second hand smoke, to lead, asbestos..too many chemicals!
But keep eating healthy. Maybe you do cut back on the risks for some diseases.

First of all, you have a great idea, but it is not foolproof. I have breast cancer, and on the web sites I go to there are vegans who have breast cancer.
However, you are on the right track-just not 100% guaranteed.

Being a vegan will not stop genetics from taking over, nor will it cure cancer, thinking it can be prevented or cured through diet is extraordinarily dangerous and very naive!
