Is there a government website that can help me in this search. He had 3 bronze stars and i have heard that you find out what the details for each medal are.

Mad as hell is 100% correct. I will add that there was a fire in 1973 that destroyed 70% of the records. Good luck. If you have a copy of his DD214 it will have all medals authorized, campaigns fought in, the last unit he was in and his rank. If you don't you may be able to find it at the county level wherever he returned to after the war.

I beleive There is a center in St. Louis that houses everything about anyone who has served. Yet, I understand you would want to be prepared going in that there are frequently many delays.
