Actually, if you look in Genesis, you will see that humans were created in the image of god, male and female, so God should be referred to as THEY, both male and female, the parents. Some cultures prefer He because they are biased and such, other cultures prefer She for the same reasons. It takes TWO to make children, and again, refer to Genesis in the Bible...the correct term should be THEY, BOTH male and female, the mother God and the father God.

God is referred to with both masculine and feminine terms. The original languages of scripture tie gender to every noun, so the pronouns and articles follow the form of the word they refer to. The Hebrew "EL" and Greek "THEOS" are both masculine forms, though that does NOT indicate that God is in any way male.. The fact is that God has NO GENDER.
(Female: Matthew 23:37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me. 38 And now, look, your house is abandoned and desolate. 39 For I tell you this, you will never see me again until you say, ‘Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the LORD!’ ”)
In Greek, boulder ("petra," like Peter's confession on which the church was to be established) is a feminine word and pebble (petros, the nickname given to Simon) is a masculine word. In what way are these things male or female? Simple answer: none, it is just a facet of that language.
Male and female exist solely for reproduction. God has no need for reproduction...

Well if you're a Mormon then you would say yes God did have parents, but if you're an orthodox Christian then no He did not. Interesting second part to your question though. God takes on the masculine when referring to Himself when in fact He is spirit, but then I guess this makes it easier for us when reading or talking about Him.

I think God should be referred to as an A-sexual being. Why would God have genitalia? I know people that refer to her/him as "the entity."

well everything is basically referred to the Old Testament, God is the creator of all beings, ideas, and everything. the magical being that can do anything and has no limitations
having parents, doubt it
its a he because in the Old testament God is referred as a he
in my opinion i think its like the term man, like mankind it doesn't focus on one sex, but humanity in general.
and when they say in Gods image, i doubt image is referring to gender.
its really your beliefs that dictates that question.

Since god is a fantasy, if it makes you feel good, he can have parents.
As to the whole 'he' thing, well, Adam was created in god's image and Adam was a man.... therefore god is a he. Woman was created from Adam's rib, therefore women are.... good with barbeque sauce.
And by the way, god isn't always a he. Many religions have female godesses. Monotheism is just incredibly sexist.

Because the Bible says God is a he.
BTW: I followed that exact line of thinking as a child... Eventually I stopped caring about it because I was, and still am, an atheist.

Almighty God Jehovah gave his son, Jesus, full authority.
Jesus, in turn, gave full authority to the apostle Paul. This is proved by the fact that Paul was the author of 14 books in the Bible.
Then paul said this.
It can only have been with the full authority of Jehovah.
(1 Timothy 2:11-15) Let a woman learn in silence with full submissiveness. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 Also, Adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived and came to be in transgression. 15 However, she will be kept safe through childbearing, provided they continue in faith and love and sanctification along with soundness of mind.
Would a female god state such a thing?
No, Almighty God is masculine. With the aspect of PROTECTING WOMEN.
(1 Peter 3:7) YOU husbands, continue dwelling in like manner with them according to knowledge, assigning them honor as to a weaker vessel, the feminine one, since YOU are also heirs with them of the undeserved favor of life, in order for YOUR prayers not to be hindered.

God is neither male or female. God is a Spiritual Being - no sex. You can call God a He or She. It does not matter.
You have different answers to your question. That's the problem when everyone tries to interpret the Bible. Jesus appointed only one Church to interpret the Bible so there will be none of this useless and time wasting interpretation issues.
