Keeping a car accident secret seems kind of silly to me. If a family member was seriously injured everyone would know because people care about each other and want to offer their support. If a family member seriously injured another driver I think it would be too difficult to keep it secret. If it was a minor accident I don't think people would talk about it too much, but it would seem stupid to worry about your Aunt Sally knowing you got in a fender bender.
My family doesn't really keep secrets, but there are things that aren't necessarily discussed openly. Those are things like mental illness, infidelity, etc. Those are just examples of the types of things, not really ones that apply to my family. Those are heavy subjects and not something we'd discuss on game night or over Thanksgiving dinner.

It depends on the situation, for example if it was classified as reckless driving ie.,driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, this would definitely be kept a secret.
Because of the strict morals within the family.
However, an accident that is not classified as such would be okay to share with the family for support.

No way! Any family that keeps secrets between one and the other is one that i would call "full of shame!" They've done some things that were not honorable and because of it, they walk around with taped mouths! We don't keep secrets in our family. I am so close to mine that one can"t move without the other! That's the way it should always be!

My family wants to know what is happening to all of us and if we don't divulge, the others are extremely feeling left out. Although the family members that do not stay in touch will have to hear it from some one else. A car accident is a major deal and family needs to share this info ASAP.

YES, my family is like that. Both times my sister got pregnant (while married!!) it was kept secret from a lot of the family until she was near her due date. Likewise my parents didn't tell me until I was 15 that my sister had a medical condition... problem was, I'd been experiencing symptoms of it all my life with no idea that that was what it was. And they still haven't told me the full story about my birth, which was out of the ordinary. Thanks, guys. >.<

No I was in a car accident and everyone in my family knew. It kind of pissed me off because family I hadn't seen in years had to come to see me while I was in the hospital.

Well, my brother was in a drunk driving accident, and I was the last person to know, though we were really close. It took a week of me bugging my mom about where he was before I finally got it out of one of my cousins. It seems like everyone else knows more about me and the people in my house than I do, although it could be that I'm really not very observant and extremely forgetful.

my family is now separated by distances from each other
but with email and chat rooms they all still tell me more than I want to hear
with me it is not that I dont keep secrets
its more that I dont even try to control the conversations
and when something comes up that I havent mentioned before
I hear about that too ... grin
