I do not ever reference my animals as it. They are not an object. Usually I will say my dog, use the dogs name or say 'she'. I don't agree with that at all. But I also don't call my children it when I'm pregnant. I have heard people say "it" moved or something similar. I can't stand that.

Grammar books also say things can be called "that". I always call my pets be either their name, nickname, or the pronouns he and she. But then I also refer to myself and Mommy and my husband as Daddy, not him and her.

No. I would not refer to my pet/pets as an "it". As long as they are my pets, I will refer to them as "he" and "she", even if the grammar books say otherwise.

Well, no, I think that animals, such as dogs, who are the biggest companion to humanity, for emotional, legal, personal, entertainment, relaxation, confidence purposes, they deserve a little bit mor than an it

prefer he or she .. but I Had a litter last year .. that were really naughty .. I called then the self destruct litter .. one in particular was into everything .. she was named Sh1t-pit.. the name has stuck ..she is a pedigree Serengeti .. I did try and register as Sh1t-pit but the TICA wouldn't accept the name said it was inappropriate... not for my little girl it isn't..
Wonder what the neighbors think when they hear me calling her

It? Riiight. Humans are more of an it than pets. My animals are he's and she's. People underestimate animals too much. Irritates me.

If you don't know the sex of an animal, like some animal in the wild, use it. Anything that is personal or you know the sex of, use he/she/you. That's my opinion.

i refer to my pets the same way i refer to people that i like and respect. he/she him/her...sometimes Her Majesty/His Majesty...which is far beyond anything i'd call a human, no matter their station in life or my respect for them....so i guess i like my pets better than i like people. (they are actually easier to be around sometimes).
