The likelihood that you're going to lose all your teeth is very small indeed. However, you are obviously in dire need of treatment, so don't delay.

Since you have *so* many dental issues that need attention and are without insurance, I suggest you contact a University near to you that has a Dental Program. Student dentists in their final year will perform the work (under the supervision of a professor) for free or for a very nominal fee. When you call, explain your situation and inform them you are without insurance. They are very likely to help. I'm sure this will be a good option for you.... It's been the "salvation" for many people in your situation!

Whatever you do... do something. Left unattended, your dental problems will only grow. And don't feel embarrassed at having waited six years. With more people today uninsured, it's more common than you realize... and the dentist that helps you will be well-aware of it and put you at ease.

Best of luck to you....

You have to suck it up and go to a dentist to get your teeth fixed, I seriously doubt they will all need to be pulled out. There are some amazing things that can be done to save teeth, granted it can be quite expensive without dental insurance. But the longer you wait, the worse it will get. Most dentists are understanding and will do what they can to make the experience comfortable for you. I know you're scared but the last thing you need is for a bad tooth to lead to a serious infection that could put you in great pain and possibly the hospital. Good luck and remember that proper home care (brushing and flossing) and regular dental check-ups will help prevent further problems!!

Michelle, It is normal to be affraid of going to see the dentist. Let me tell what is not normal.; It is obvious you need to see a dentist. you know it. The fact that you write that you have no insurance is really a smokescreen, you will use that excuse to avoid the visit. In your mind you will say I cannot afford it.(and so you wont HAVE to go). You will stay home, eat mashed potatos, chew on one side of your mouth, take some kind of pain medicine. Maybe you will use alcohol to medicate yourself . In the meantime you will most likely form some kind of substance abuse problem because of your fear of the dentist. Actually by the time you finally have to go( you will develop an abcess(a very nasty and extremely painful bactierial infection) and believe me when this happens you will BEG ANYONE to take you to the dentist. However ,by this time you will probably need extensive work to be done, .....yes michelle, now you will have to come back over and over again in order to get your mouth right.(by the way, during this time you will not have many friends and NO boyfriends, because you will be miserable with pain, and your breath will stink because of your neglecting your teeth....

all this can be avoided if only you will go get your filling fixed. Most dentists will work with you on a payment schedule . If you dont get this one tooth fixed I can gaurantee it will get worse, and you may very well have to get all your teeth taken out. I had this same problem. when it was inevitable... I had all mine taken out. It sucks too.I wish I had been advised and encouraged to go when I had ONE bad tooth.

You should go see the dentist.

Your dental health is actually linked to other parts of your body and can cause problems in other places besides your mouth. I learned this the hard way when I had to have a root canal last year -- while I was 7 months pregnant. As it turns out, the infection caused by bad teeth could have hurt my baby, to the point of causing premature labor or even death. Not something you think about associating with teeth problems, huh?

But it taught me a valuable lesson. Your teeth are a very important part of your body's systems and you need to keep them cared for.

Hi!! I know how you feel, but you have to go to the dentist as soon as possible, the more you wait, the more you will have to pay at the end. You need to check if what hurts is not something serious if not you would have to pay 2000 dollars or more for root canals and you don't want that to happen! Just go for a checkout and tell them to take x rays of your entire mouth (maybe you'll pay less than 100 dollar for that). Then tell the dentist to tell you how much work do you need done and how much would it cost you. Most of the times they have plans (like credit cards but sometimes without interests) to pay your bill.

:D

well they probably wont pull all your teeth but they'll have to see what they can do. you're going to have to go eventually because if it hurts alot now, it'll hurt alot more if you dont do anything about it. i wasnt the biggest fan of the dentist either until i was very serious about the care of my teeth. now i love going to the dentist. good luck :)
