3 days of age.
Now it is going to be majory surgery (amputation) and alot more painful.
I wouldnt even bother now.
And I have never heard of any dog being able to break a persons leg with their tail.

It's too late to have your dog's tail docked. That is done during the first few days of it's life- hopefully by someone highly skilled- like a Vet. Some breeders have a lot of experience with docking tails.
I personally like my dogs to keep their tails and don't like ear cropping for the most part- and that should only be done by a qualified Vet. I gotta say, I am so used to seeing Dobies with cropped ears and docked tails that they look like a different breed when not done. But I could get used to that.
I have an APBT that has her full beautiful ears.
It is not true that a rottweiler or rott mix will break legs by wagging tails unless a person has brittle bone disease, in which case, hugging them could break their bones.

Best time to do it is when they are a day or less old.
I do not know if 9 weeks is too old... probably not, but it will be more of an amputation than a docking.
**EDIT** I'm sure your dog's tail won't break any legs. At 9 weeks, I'd just let the tail stay...

It's best done when the pups are no more than a few days old,the nerve endings are not reaching there yet after that it can be painful and a lot of vets. won't do it after 8 weeks old.
and a Rottweiler's tail is no more dangerous than any other dog with a long tail.

No dog's tail can break your leg, unless you have some serious issues with bone density. He's too old to have his tail docked. Tails are done when the pups are only a couple of days old.

I've had a pit bull docked at 3 months without surgery with no problems at all. Banded it with vets care and anti-biopics if needed but was never nessesary. No complications at all.

I'm not sure how old until the stop doing it. But i do know a lot of vets that will do it only do it when they are very young, like a few days old young. Your best bet might be to call the local vets office in your area and see what they say. Also I don't suggest that you get it done anywhere else other then at a vet's.

I've never heard that about rottweilers. Tails are cropped at birth, you are DEFINATELY too late to have it done, unless medically necessary.
