There is no right or wrong answer to this. Every OS has its weaknesses and advantages. The easiest way to choose the best OS for you, is to ask yourself what you intend to use it for.

The Windows platform is by far the most common OS for home and office PC's. It will also do everything which most people would need an OS to do. In addition to this, most applications are native to Microsoft Windows. Not to mention that Microsoft Windows is deemed by many to be the most suitable platform to run games on.

Security has been a growing concern with regards to Microsoft operating systems for quite some time. However, Microsoft Windows Vista includes many security features which have improved its security significantly. Due to this, If you wish to choose a Windows system, I'd recommend Vista.

There are other choices available to you. You could choose a Linux OS for instance. Ubuntu is regarded as one of the most user-friendly Linux operating systems. One advantage with Ubuntu and most other non-enterprise Linux distributions is that they're 100% free. The drawback is limited software and driver compatibility; that said, there is usually alternative software available. Another disadvantage is that Linux tends to be more complicated to use when compared to Windows or Mac OS X. Most people find themselves having to do research in order to perform some tasks on Linux based operating systems.

There is also Mac OS X. Despite being based on Unix, it's very simple to use. Software compatibility with OS X is fairly good, although not as good as Microsoft Windows. Again though, there is usually alternative software if you're unable to find an OS X version of your favourite software which you may have been used to using on Microsoft Windows. The drawback with OS X, is that it can only run on an Apple mac computer; as a result of this, choosing a Mac would not be your cheapest option!

As much as I hate to say it, Microsoft Windows is probably the most suitable platform for most people. That is not to imply that it's the best though.

I hope that answers your question. :)

Windows XP is the best OS at this time. Vista is still having problems- and 2000 has tons of probs too. Vista looks good but a transform pack can fix that.

That has the transform pack on it. Why get a glitchy thing that looks good when you gan just get the looks?
