Do your knees bend and allow you to walk? Do they allow you to properly pick things up from the ground? Do they allow you to change direction quickly? All these things are good but they are not really that important.
The most important thing your knees are supossed to do is, bend far enough for you to get down on them in humility and talk with God almighty!!!!
Some people have caloused knees while others are still tender. Mine are worn out from years of abuse but when I get down on them and spend time time with my Father they do not hurt at all.

Are your knees caloused or tender and are they serving properly or not??

I am not saying that the only position you can pray in is on your knees. I am saying that is the most important thing you do with your knees!!!!!!!!

I always pray on my knees not because I am holy or better than everyone else but because when I pray I want to be in submission to the Lord. It shows gratitude and humbleness.

Well I am very capable of talking to God while sitting in a chair, standing up, or lying down when I go to sleep at night. I don't think God is concerned about the pose you strike when you pray.

I've been having more and more pain in my knees over the years when kneeling, to the point I was considering taking communion standing up as some older members of our congregation do. Then I thought, if Jesus bore the pain he did for me, then I can bear the pain when kneeling. Now they don't hurt anymore.

A nice reminder to pray.
As a person with occasional knee problems I can say knees are very important.

I talk to my Father, on my knees, sitting standing and driving down the road.
I pray to him laying in the bed, just before I go to sleep.
before meals, and quite often, after.
and when I am not praying, I am praising.

welcome back brother.

My Brother,
I fear my Knees haven't become calloused from over use, I am ashamed to admit. Oswald Chambers called Prayer our "Holy Occupation". Would God that I would be more consistent, and faithful in it !

Mine are pretty tender. Don't spend a lot of time on them talking to invisible entities.
