Does anyone know if the warranty has run out on my 2001 Hyundai XG300? If so, is there any way I can buy extended warranty?

Determine the date of purchase from the paperwork you have from when you bought your car. From that date, you have a 5 year/60000mi bumper to bumper warranty, and a 10 year/100000mi powertrain warranty if you bought the car new. Since the car is a 2001 model year car your bumper to bumper warranty has already expired. (Probably expired in 2005 or 2006 depending on the year of purchase.) However, assuming your car does not have 100000 miles, you still have your 10 year/100000mi powertrain warranty.
There are many companies that offer additional warranty coverage. Some people may not see the value of it, but if you pay $1400.00 for ta bumper to bumper warranty for an extra 5 years, this can be worth it if something goes wrong. Remember just your powertrain is covered by the 10year/100000mi warranty, that is your engine and transmission. It does not cover the alternator, AC compressor, and your power windows, for example. If your AC compressor fails at some point, a new compressor runs over $500.00 and the you still have to incur the labor expenses of having it installed. Labor costs for such a job runs approx 3 hours or $180.00 at some dealerships. Then you would incur shop expenses for freon, etc. which will put the job costs at over $700.00. Another problem that one sees frequently in many cars is condensation on the inside surface of the headlight assembly. Many people don't think about it but this is a defect and will be covered under any warranty. Headlight assemblies are pretty expensive and can exceed $300.00 per side plus the cost of installation. These problems may not occur in your car, but in the event something does happen, the warranty will come in handy. I had a 2000 Sonata which I bought used and purchased an extended warranty. This warranty was definitely a good investment for me as I had both headlights, the alternator, rear brake cylinders, front axle and CV boot as well as one of the door locks all changed under the warranty coverages. These problems may not occur in your car, but in the event something does happen, the warranty will come in handy.

I don't know what the warranty length's were for 2001 models, but I'm pretty sure at best you only have a powertrain warranty if anything left. Why are you interested in an extended warranty, is the 01 XG300 known to have problems? You can try the link below or simply search for car warranty's, there are tons of companies more then happy to take your cash. Expect to pay around $1400 for a 5 yr 50,000 mile extended warranty, we got one on our van and after 3 yrs have yet to use it so far.

The best way to find out is to check with your local dealership and have them look it up.

If not, there are companies that sell aftermarket warranties, but it doesn't seem worth the cost based on the ones that I've seen. Just save some money aside for when you need car-repair money.

If you bought the car new, its warranty was 10 years or 100,000 miles. If you reached 100,000 miles on your car already, then the cars warranty is done.
