The most important current event about agriculture is, undoubtedly, the use of biofuels made from crops.
Ethanol and biodiesel are making the prices skyrocket.
And one of the biggest discussions around the world is if biofuels should compete or not with human alimentation.

You could do one on all the rain we have gotten lately, depending on where you live. In my region, south eastern South Dakota, many farmers aren't able to be in the Fields for a while because of all the rain we have gotten. Today was the first day in about a week since we have seen the sun. Good luck on your current event. I hope I was a help to you.

I'm not sure if this is the sort of thing you're thinking about or not. But what about fall pumpkin festivals in your area - some are complete with corn stalk mazes and hayrides? One in my area (greater Cleveland, OH) is at red wagon farms in Columbia Station and is advertised on their website. Or are you thinking more like apple festivals since it's apple picking season? Or the drought throughout SE USA - Georgia in particular and its effects on crops?

Hope this gave you some suggestions.
