I have a Cocker female....love her to death! They can be high strung and are very often submissive urinaters--they pee when excited or happy or scared. Be aware of this and don't punish her if she is--just read up about what to do for it.

Also, Cockers are prone to ear problems due to their long and heavy ears. Get her used to having her ears cleaned and touched. They also have heavy coats, so frequent combing is important--you might want to get her used to going to a good gentle groomer right from the beginning to keep her clipped short--it's a lot less hassle.
They are also a breed prone to gaining weight easily, so keep an eye on that.

Some Cockers have very bad temperaments, so start early socialization with her--meet lots and lots of people and taker her everywhere to get socialized. It will really help.

Some of them tend to get a bit on the nippy side. All due to over breeding ever since Lady and the Tramp came out ...evreyone had to have a Cocker.
If you are getting the dog from a good reputable breeder, you probably wont have much to worry about.
But still, socialize her alot and get her use to having her feet touched. Cockers seem to hate having their feet and nails touched.
Also, get her use to being groomed from day 1. Get her use to the sites, sounds and smells of a grooming shop. She is going to need groomed once a month for the rest of her life...get her use to it now so it's not so stressful on her (or the groomer)
Good luck with the new pup.

Make sure you get her from a reputable breeder. Cockers have been very poorly bred recently and aggression has been a result.

A party black and white! They have become more nippy since they became so popular in the eighties. Just make sure yours is not a biter. Not all bite, but it is a common problem. And have your vet examine her eyelashes.
Congratulations. Enjoy your dog.
