2. Chinese Mandarin, will help you communicate with massive numbers of people around the world. Singaporean, Malaysian Chinese, Taiwanese, and Chinese themselves use Mandarin to communicate with each others. There are dialects, but learn Mandarin first.

3. Arabic, opens up the Middle East and northern Africa for you. From the gulf Arab, to Jordan, to Iran (Iranians uses Farsi as the main language, but they understand Arabic too)

4. Spanish, ranging from Spain to South America. The second most spoken language in the world

5. Russian, covers Russia, and ex-Soviet countries.

6. German. Official language for EU. Widely spoken around central and western Europe. Plus it is related to Dutch, thus easier to pickup the latter when your have mastered German / Deutsch.

7. Hindi, massive numbers of speakers in South Asia

8. French, the language that seems to be dying.

9. Japanese / Korean / Cantonese. Those are quite powerful economic pillar in East Asia. And most Japanese / Koreans / Cantonese, are not really proficient in English. The best way to do business with them is to learn their languages.

10. Norwegian. Learn this, and most probably you will be understood in Sweden and Denmark.
