to be CALLED to be an intercessor means that God has chosen you to devote your energy and time to praying for others. If you take him up on the offer you have to be ready to have a tender heart that will be broken from time to time, but it will be worth it. We all aught to be intercessors, but some are called to it on a much more intense level.

We are all called to be in prayer.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 "pray without ceasing;"
There is no separate calling of "intercessor."
An intercessor, however, is someone who prays specifically for someone or some situation with the best knowledge possible of the situation.
For instance, there is a website called presidentialprayerteam.org that prays for the President of the United States and his cabinet and national leaders (Republican and Democrat) as they have specific tasks.

An intercessor is one who goes to the Lord on anothers behalf. It is not normally just a simple prayer, or requested, like in a church prayer chain, etc. I feel a deep "burden" to pray for a couple of families who are being hit by various trials and tribulations. I go to God on their behalf. There is a co-worker that in speaking openly with him, I now know has been praying intently for my family for a couple years now, due to the many things I am going thru. He told me after my being born again.
God bless

An intercessor is a saint in Heaven, or sometimes a person still on earth who others on earth ask to pray for them and their needs.

Vika, an intercessor is merely one who prays for another. If you are broken hearted about a loss, I come before God in the name of His son to pray for healing for you. That is intercessory prayer, that's all it is.

to intercede is to "stand in the gap for others."
Thus, when we intercede, we are "Standing in the place of who we are praying for."
1 Timothy 5:8, I believe, is a good place.
Jesus is our Mediator, or intercessor, to God. He stands in the gap for us.

Intercessor is like an attorney. He stands and defends you before a judge.
