Many may make the argument that Islam is an understanding, peaceful religion, but if one were to literally read the Koran for what it says they would find a much different meaning. The Koran is filled with verses speaking of war against the unbelievers. In 9:73, the Koran states, “Prophet, make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home.” In 47:4, it states, “When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield, strike off their heads and when you have laid them low, take their captives firmly.” In 4:76, it states, “Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject faith fight in the cause of evil so fight ye against the friends of Satan.” In 9:5, it states, “Then when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them and take them captive, and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush.” Clearly, verses like this are going to prevent many fundamentalist Muslims from accepting rule from a Wes

4.76. Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith Fight in the cause of Evil: So fight ye against the friends of Satan: feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan.

Whats wrong in that! Evil = Satan.

The problem here is clear, the Koran is saying that whoever does not have faith is evil and of Satan. What about Christians and Jews and other religions? This verse proves that according to the Koran Muslims will never live at peace with other religions, since they believe people without their "faith" are of Satan.

Yes, there are some interesting points as far as looking before and after some of the verses, but why I just randomnly picked these verses. There is verse after verse dealing with war, death, and destruction of the unbeliever. What kind of a religion is this?

First of all, i would like to say if you wanna quote from The Holy Qur'an, its best to use Yusuf Ali's translation which is widely accepted and available, not random translations off the internet

Ok lets see the verses u posted.

9.73. O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell,- an evil refuge indeed.

an explaination is provided in the next verse

9.74. They swear by Allah that they said nothing (evil), but indeed they uttered blasphemy, and they did it after accepting Islam; and they meditated a plot which they were unable to carry out: this revenge of theirs was (their) only return for the bounty with which Allah and His Messenger had enriched them! If they repent, it will be best for them; but if they turn back (to their evil ways), Allah will punish them with a grievous penalty in this life and in the Hereafter: They shall have none on earth to protect or help them.

47.4 4. Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah.s Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost

Here, the verse explain when you fighting unbelivers in a war then strike them on the neck. Thats fair play. Dont think one would wait to strike if in state of war. Apart from that, that way you only strike at the enemy thereby reducing unwanted casuality and more definatly better than bombing cities from afar like cowards like the U.S Army and after killing half the population sending the troops in. Well even today one has POW so why is there a problem if Qur'an mentions it. Also in this verse also stipulates kind treatment of POW not treating them like animals they way it was done in Guantanamo Bay.

4.76. Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith Fight in the cause of Evil: So fight ye against the friends of Satan: feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan.

Whats wrong in that! Evil = Satan.

U mentioned 9.5, u need to look at the verses before and after

3. And an announcement from Allah and His Messenger, to the people (assembled) on the day of the Great Pilgrimage,- that Allah and His Messenger dissolve (treaty) obligations with the Pagans. If then, ye repent, it were best for you; but if ye turn away, know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah. And proclaim a grievous penalty to those who reject Faith.

4. (But the treaties are) not dissolved with those Pagans with whom ye have entered into alliance and who have not subsequently failed you in aught, nor aided any one against you. So fulfil your engagements with them to the end of their term: for Allah loveth the righteous.

5. But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, an seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.

6. If one amongst the Pagans ask thee for asylum, grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah. and then escort him to where he can be secure. That is because they are men without knowledge.

The verses above clearly show that we arent allowed to just kill at will. If a non-believer asks to be taken in, he should be honoured. We are obligated to spread the truth and if we have a truce then we should honour it. The false notion that Muslims are bllodthirsty and Qur'an promotes violence can be easily thwarted. All it requires is a accepted true authentic translation of the Qur'an especially one by Yusuf Ali and some common sense and logic.

Neways if you have any more bring it on, post it here, email it to me at amk56@yahoo.com.....

The "problem" is it is a young religion. There are already a LOT people who take its beliefs to heart and use them to better themselves and others, and there are people who take a couple of tiny passages, misinterpret(sp is off, forgive me :) ) them, then use those as their reason to start a war. They are NOT the entirety of the religion, OR the bulk of it. They are extremists who have something off in their heads. Remember, when Christianity was still young people were off starting wars over IT too. Then people would invade other countries and if the people there would not willingly convert they would be punished. Slavery, torture, killings. They simply did not(and some fanatics still don't) realize that everyone has their own path, and some just don't believe what they do. The big difference is that now most extremist Christians don't go around murdering people for not following their faith the anymore. Give it a few more centuries and Islam will be the same way. The extemists will die off, or be killed off and people will once more be free to worship their god(s) in peace. Until the next little cult starts up and the whole process starts once more.

I've read the Quran, and I have no problem with it!

I bet you have never read 'all' of it from the beginning to the end with an open mind.

Spreading misconception and hate is a great sin before God.And it is crime against humanity too. Allah/God is all knowing and He knows even what is hidden in your heart. We all are creatures of same Almighty Allah/God. You can't please Him unless you please his creatures. So fear Him.With LOVE. God bless you.
