You Just Know God will never tell you anything that is negative. He loves us, he loves us all. The first time I heard God's voice I was in a 30 day fast and I was feeling down because i thought that I wasn't good enough to go to a top elite school like UF even though i have good grades and all. But as the tears fell he spoke and said. "i Have Prepared You For This Moment'. Every since then God has just slowly been revealing to me things that he has for me. the Lord just wants a clean heart and a humble spirit. Now when I hear his voice it comes in a moment that I really need him...in time it will get better. Try fasting and praying. you can do it from 12pm to 12am for as long as you need to. Hope this helped.

God Bless=)

Ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit when you pray. If you feel that God is speaking to you, Ask yourself if the information you are getting goes along with what is written in the Bible. If it is against or different than what the Bible teaches, it is not from God. The voice is like a voice inside your head or an small urge to do something good for God. (Always check yourself and ask... is this something the Bible has said not to do? Will this better mankind in some way? Will this bring Glory to God?) If you answer yes to the last two questions and No to the first, then go ahead and believe it is from God. Do not just accept what a pastor or Bible worker says. Always check it against the Bible. There are a lot of teachings out there that don't seem right when compared with what the Bible says. Look at the Bible as a whole, don't take one passage and expect to build a whole doctrine around it. Make sure it makes sense with the whole of the Bible. Even the passages that at first glance, seem to not mesh with the rest of the Bible...do if you understand their context.

Linzi, when you read the scriptures, do you pray first and ask God to reveal His truth for you? I have and do pray first and usually, when I am truly meditating upon the scriptures, I get a complete picture of the meaning. This is usually followed with a peace which was not manufactured by me! This is when I know that God is "growing me and teaching me."

Also, it is much the same, in my prayer life! When I pray, with an opened heart, letting my feelings flow, I always feel His presence. He imparts joy and through the Holy Spirit, my answers are made very clear....always in His timing though! That is why we are to pray without ceasing! It is all about our faith in Him.

It is very much my prayer that you become close to God as you desire! I am standing and beieving with you, through prayer, that your relationship will grow deeper and deepr with the Creator!

Blessings

Reading God's Word, having faith in Him, and prayer. When the Good Lord speaks, you'll know it's Him.

God speaks in different ways to people. He can speak out loud or quietly, in your mind. He speaks through nature....and through His Word, the Bible.
He says to "BE STILL and KNOW that I am God." Ps.46:10
When the TV is blaring and the video games beeping and buzzing.....it is hard to "hear" Him.
He also says "Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you." James 4:8. That is a promise you can claim...but you have to do what it says for Him to keep His part. So, how do you draw near to Him?
TALK to Him. He knows ALL about you....but He wants to hear it from YOU! Tell Him all your thoughts and dreams.....and the things that bother you. He cares about the smallest things that you like or don't like.....things that you do.
He has all the time in the world for you! Read His Word to you. Put yourself in the stories. Get to know Him that way....how He works, what He likes and doesn't like. He will bring THOSE THINGS to your mind when you are in the middle of things in your life......that will be HIM speaking to you then...and you will know it.
I will pray for God to reveal Himself to you in a way for you to know Him best and that He will keep you close to Him forever.

There is no way to know. Some people think a "warm fuzzy feeling" counts as God speaking to them. Others think that some outside agent, like a long lost friend calling them up counts. I say its all baloney. If there is a God, it would be clear when it speaks to you - it wouldn't need such lame and vague ways to 'speak.'

Just listen. More than right after you speak. Listen all day everyday and answers to your prayers will eventually come.

linzi, when I am on my treadmill excersing, I put on my ipod that has a playlist with all my favorite praise and worship music. It is a sweet time praising and worshipping the Lord. That same music I have on a CD that I play in my car. Funny...some of the most intimate, joyful interaction I have had with the Lord is stuck on a freeway, in the middle of a thousand cars, with some beautiful song praising His name. The bible tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people. Try this....and see how that is so!

You needs to be still, and be quiet. He has a soft pleasant voice that comes from within your spirit, not in your head in the form of a thought the devil deals with your thoughts your mind is the devil's stumping ground. How close do you want Him to get He dwells within you, if you are His child.
