Identical twins are formed when a fertilised egg (which supposedly already has a soul) DIVIDES IN TWO, resulting in two eventual babies rather than one! Does each kid only get 1/2 of a soul...?

Maybe they have two souls to begin with, since God knows they will be twins...
The truth is that no one knows exactly how it works or when we are given souls. Although, my belief is that we should be protected from conception.
If you are trying to lead into an argument abortion here... there is only one explanation for abortion: trying to escape the responsibility brought on by ones actions. (Unless of course it is a case of or the mother is in danger)
Even though there are issues which complicate the matter, this is the basis for most abortion.

Well there is no way to prove that humans even have souls. I know this. But i'm agnostic and I do believe there is more to life than just the here and now. I don't think a zygote has a soul right when it is formed. Maybe it enters the body a little before birth. And just b/c two people are genetically identical doesn't mean they aren't two different people with two different souls. Identical twins do not prove that humans don't have souls.

I don't really care how or what anyone believes about souls or god or lack there of. As long as they are a decent caring human being thats all that matters.

I am aware that belief in an eternal soul is illogical and has no evidence to support it. But this belief is only what is true for me.

You might not know the egg is going to split, but God does. Two souls are given.

Incidentally, I'll bet a doctor can probably tell, if they were to view the egg under microscope at conception, that it was to be split and produce two identical children. They simply can not as it would disturb the pregnancy and growth.

god does not give souls right at conception. i think after a baby is born it takes a few days before it gets a soul. i know this sounds strange but i heard that the soul does not know if the baby is going to live or die so it waits. those first days are when most babies dies so after that period the baby attains a souls. this makes more sense than splitting a soul.

If an egg has a soul, a soul is lost once a month with a normal menstrual cycle. Oh never mind you said fertilized egg, so just a potential soul is lost once a month.

Each twin is "a soul" not given a soul.
A soul is just another word for "person"

If i lose a limb, does my soul lose a limb? If a fertilized egg splits, does the soul get cut in half?

Edit: An egg or sperm individually does not have a soul. Only when it is fertilized.

you know, many times the egg splits into many parts then rejoins. the mathematics of the hypothetical soul is just nonsensical. why create pseudo-metaphysical things that only create more questions about life, and solves nothing else?
