If it was a dealer, they would just pay off my car and get a power of attorney.

I owe about 6500 and my car should sell for about 7500.

You would get the money, take the money to the bank, they write a note (there is a 75 cent word for what they call that note), then the new owner takes the title and note and can do the title transfer. In some states the bank actually HOLDS the title until it's paid off, so may change from state to state.

You can sell it privately.

If so, you should insist on a cashiers check from the buyer. Immediately take it to the bank and deposit it. You'll need to pay off what you owe on the car and then the bank will release the title so that you can give it to the new owner.

No if you can find someone to give you the money you just go to the place you financed it and pay them off and turn the title over to the person who is buying it... If you think you owe 6500 the pay off will be lower... Good luck Grant M in think

If you get enough money to pay off the title you may sell it yourself. then pay off the title at the bank and give the title to the person who bought it.

Tell the buyer that the bank will have to be paid. This is not uncommon. People do it all the time. Pay the bank, they send the title to the buyer. Every ones happy.

You can sell privately.
The bank will have to sign off on the sale,
and they will only do this when they get the
money, so the sale will have to occur at the bank.
You can call and ask how to arrange it.
