Yes you do. Otherwise your teeth will shift right back to their position before the braces. Most people only have to wear the retainers at night though.

You most definately need to get retainers after getting your braces off. If you don't then your teeth will shift back to the way they were before you had braces. You don't want that to happen now do you? Retainers don't hurt at all. They are just meant to keep your teeth from shifting. They are a hell of a lot better than braces. That's for sure.

The orthodontist will make a retainer that is to be worn 24/7 for several weeks to hold the teeth in that position, later this will be reduced to just nights. The retainer is something that all patients need to wear once ortho is removed. Some patients have a fixed, or non-removable retainer placed instead of having the removable one. All patients have some form of a retainer though, if they don't wear it, they will end up in ortho again very soon.

I'm pretty sure that you'll have to wear a retainer for a while after you get your braces off. It helps your teeth stay in the same position. My friend got her braces off, and got a permanent piece of wire attached on the back of her teeth. It's different for everyone though.

If you want your teeth to stay in place you must wear the retainer at least at night. My daughter didn't and has just finished her second trip with braces.

Yesssss! If you want your teeth to remain in place you need to wear retainers. Some people wear them for the rest of their lives, but only at night and not every night. It is all worth it.
