Only found the ones from the vet to work!

They do not work - none of them. This is because the fleas actually have to come in to contact with the collar to work - so they avoid the neck area. So very often I meet people who assume their cat doesn't have fleas because they've slapped a flea collar on them - then I point the fleas out to them!

Get some proper flea treatment from a vets - this will be a spot-on, eithe Frontline, Advantage, Revolution or Advocate.

You need to be aware that any treatments from pet stores don't work - stores aren't licensed to sell the appropriate chemicals, so they sell things called organophosphates which are basically crop sprays, not really useful for flea-killing, or suitable for application to dogs and cats!

No, all dog flea collars are a waste of money. I work for a vet and almost every animal I've seen wearing a flea collar also has fleas on them. Worse than that, the toxins used in flea collars do not specifically target insects so they are actually toxic to dogs and people as well as fleas. The toxins in flea collars only work against fleas if the fleas actually come in contact with the collar...they won't kill the fleas living on your dog's butt or belly. Your best bet is a topical flea preventative such as frontline, advantage, or revolution (do NOT use cheap topical products such as Hartz top spot...these are also not effective and toxic to dogs) monthly to prevent and control fleas.

Flea collars are not a good idea. Just smell them. You can smell the poison that poisons not only the fleas but your dog and YOU. I'd pick up some Advantage from the vet. It costs more than flea collars but works lots better and will save you $$ in the long run because you won't have a dog sick with cancer or something as bad.
I've found sometimes I have to spend money to save money.

You can get flea collars anywhere, from Wal-Mart to your local pet stores. As to whether or not they actually work, that's subjective. If you only have a few fleas, a flea collar might do the trick. However, they are not generally considered effective, and I believe thety are largely used because of their low price.

If you can afford it, a good topical solution like Advantage or Frontline would be more effective. This is just my personal experience battling fleas over the years.

Don't use them. You are putting a poisoness necklace on your dog with very dangerous ingredients. Collars like that have caused a lot of dogs severe reactions and nerve damage. Go to the vet and get some frontline. It is NOT that much and you don't have to make an appointment or anything.
You can get a much safer and much more effective product for under 10 bucks.

Flea collars have proven themselves to be just about useless. Get a topical flea prevention from your vet. Don't buy the kind you can get at the grocery store. Hope this helped.

I use Advantage for my dogs. They work all over the body and last for over a month.
I hear that flea colors ONLY work around the neck where you put it.
