Just explain to the Nurse or Doc who is giving the shot that you are nervous, anxious and FRIGHTENED! Nothing wrong with that! I am sure they will reassure you and by the time they have finished reassuring you, you will have had the shot and know nothing about it. I saw my Doc as I have Arthritis and he had a Trainee Doc, nice female, training to be a Doc. When my Doc said 'I need to give you an injection' I said 'Fine but you best allow the trainee to do it!' Poor Gal went deranged 'No, No, I have not done this before, I am still training, NO, NO WAY!' My Doc said 'Look, you will have to do it sometime and the Patient has offered, not many Patients will offer, so you can do it!' It was in my butt, so I stood for about twelve minutes while both of them observed my butt and my Doc talked the Trainee Doc through the procedure, which was fascinating to hear, but I felt zero! Doc and Nurses are used to Patients being scared, its part of the job!

Know that it 's not meant to harm you.
Know that it's sterilized.
Know that it will come out and your body will immediately start making new cells to compensate for the tiny prick made in the skin.
Know that it will be over soon.
Breathing deeply and slowly will make your body think you are relaxed and brave and you'll feel okay when getting your shot.
Don't look at the needle and tell the nurse to pinch you so that you don't feel the shot. Tell her not to do a play-by-play.
Think about what you're wearing or what you have to do later that day, something to distract your thoughts.

I had a fear of needles too, the most important thing is not to look. and keep relaxed. Try focusing on something else, either in your mind or in the room. Good Luck!
