You believe that you just rot in the ground after you die. What's the point of living if there is nothing to achieve after death? Don't you know that you are throwing away an eternal opportunity in heaven? Why not choose a religion and give yourself a chance? God sent Jesus to save us and you are throwing away your opportunity. It is almost like not wanting money.

I am sorry to all atheists that responded. My question was written teribly wrong. Instead of showing you that you can enjoy life and enjoy it forever with God, I should have said that why don't you fools try to save yourself from eternal pain and suffering and pick a religion to give yourself a chance? Even the Muslims who did that on 9/11 were smart enough to give themselves a chance! You people are so stupid! Isn't it worth the risk to pick a faith? If it turns out to be false then you rot anyway! But if there is more to this life (which there is) why not try to save yourself from hell? The choice is up to you...

hundreds of thousands of religions have come and gone since the dawn of man. They last 5 years, 100 years, 1000 or 3 then fall away. Everyone thinks what they believe is correct. If there is an omnipotent being out there who created the millions of galaxies out there, he doesn't care about some mammals ceremonies or prayers, we would just be a dot on the map of what he has created. He is not concerned with the man made books that you live by.

Q. If you don't believe in God, then what is the point of living?

Why does living need to have a "point" at all? Do the "lilies of the field" need to have a point to live?

If you must have a "point", then decide on your own meaning of life. Can you think of anything more important to decide? We believe that it's much better do determine our own purpose, than to have some church do it for you based on their agenda!

Q. Doesn't being an Atheist "cheapen" life?
A. Actually religion cheapens life. Being an Atheist makes life more precious. Since there is no after-life, you must come to terms with the fact that this is the ONLY life you'll get. If an atheist throws himself in front of a bus in order to save a child, that action is much more meaningful than if a Christian did the same thing. The Christian thinks they'll just go to heaven and live there!

Look at the 9/11/2001 massacre in New York and Washington D.C. Those religious (Muslim) people thought that their actions would hasten and ensure their entry into eternal bliss, but what they actually did was throw away the only life they had in an act of "faith".

Also, you're using the Pascal's Wager. It's important to understand that the best an atheist can do when it comes to belief in God, is FEIGNING belief. And an omniscient god would see right through the act.

Life is wonderful when you don't degrade it by postulating a "better world" that comes later. That's what burns me up about religion! Just look at this world and life and nature and all that! How could you not want to live a full life here on this beautiful planet?

quote: "Even the Muslims who did that on 9/11 were smart enough to give themselves a chance!"

My goodness, you are a raving lunatic! How could you write something so insensitive, stupid and downright cruel, and then turn around and proclaim your Christian moral superiority over atheists? You are either crazy or incredibly stupid.

Your question is so full of holes it is hard to know where to start:

1. Are you only living this life so you can get to the next one?

2. Therefore, nothing on Earth really matters to you?

3. Which god should I choose? What if JC is the wrong god? Then aren't you throwing away an eternal opportunty?

4. Are you just following JC so that you can get the equivalent of money? Don't you think he will figure that out?

You had better rethink your sincerity and your assumptions.

I keep living because that is all there is and I want to make the most of the time I have.

Since you all are going to heaven why don't you just get on with it and go, you know accidentally walk in front of a bus or something since you seem to think this is a practice life and you get another shot in the afterlife.

If I were to pretend to believe in a god, which one should I pick, there a thousands you know.

Meh, as a Buddhist, I know there can be no death without birth and no birth without death - it's illogical to have either one without the other, so, death spawns birth.

Having said that, only the body "rots in the ground" because that's where it originated. Isn't it funny that, even with the death and life cycle, that the planet, itself, has a cycle of birth and death?

The mind does not. That's where Atheist's belief fails, it ignores the mind

you said it right there "a religion" man has made so many in order to comfort himself and gain control of others, over time that i now couldn't tell you if there was a real one, which one it was.

and um, well your doing it for your greed of wanting a reward, im in this world to make it better for humans, i hope i do a bit, kinda.

now why would i kill myself again its in your own question "just rot in the ground" "nothing to achieve after death" well exactly this is the one life you get, and your not going to be able to achieve anything after death so you better do it now really hadn't you?

dont you know that by playing around and not making the most of your life your thowing away a 75 year oppertunity which is the only one you get?

What's the point of living your life for the end of it? Not enjoying the wonderous beauty of all living things that's right here in front of you, rather than being preoccupied with some utopian existance that may or may not even exist? What's wrong with heaven being a state of mind and creating it right here, right now? It seems self defeating to live your life only for what you might get after you die. Why not live for the life you have right now?

Do you know why I am am not an atheist? I am a Christian because it would be to depressing too be an Atheist. Atheists are more likely to murder, steal, rape, and are they are much less charitable because they don't believe in any punishment or reward for their actions after their death. Atheists still don't have an explanation as to how life began and they never will because there is no way anything non living can create life. Atheists are more likely then Christians to commit suicide because Christians believe it is a sin that will lead you straight to Hell. GOD HAS MADE EARTH TO TEST EVERYBODY AND ATHEISTS ARE FAILING!!!!!!!! think about it Atheists- there is a lot more evidence that suggests God is real then there is evidence that shows there is no god.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense. *rolls eyes*

Why can't you Christians get it - we don't believe in god in the first place. It's like accepting monopoly money, it's all fake and imaginary. Is it that hard to put yourself in our shoes?

It only takes a little intelligence, compassion, and common sense to live a meaningful and fulfilling life. It's sad that you need the fear of eternal hell to do good things and the promise of a paradise to motivate you to be good.

For us, it only makes life more important and valuble, because there is no afterlife, and this is all we ever get. If there were an all-loving god, you would think it would admire that, even if we are wrong.

Ta-Da: it's not about whether I think it's appealing or not, but if I actually think that's what happens. Reality isn't always so pretty and nice, but you learn to live with the inevitable.
