You have plenty of time to decide, however, try to learn as much as possible about both careers. It can be very different in both cases - a chef in a student dining hall has different responcibilities and burdens than a chef in a fine restaurant. A librarian in a small community library may be very different than a librarian in a major research facility.
It is possible to become a famous chef. It is not possible to become a famous librarian.
I temporarily worked as a librarian in a large medical library and honestly I found it rather boring. I didn't get much time to read, and I'm not a doctor anyway, so my love of books never came into play. What I did most of the time is scanned the book's "barcode" and loaned it to a person, or checked the books back in. Also, explained people how to find the books they need. Did some paperwork regarding lost books. What surprised me the most is how heavy those books became by the end of the day. I mean, it's one thing to carry a stack of books from a shelf to your desk. It's completely different thing if you're carrying them back and forth all day long. And the most unfortunate of all was the pay. At the same time, I had a part time job as a waitress (a watress, mind you, not a chef) and I liked it better. At least, it wasn't as boring and I was well fed.

You would meet more people at a library and it's a pretty soft job. Respectable too. But, just liking to read doesn't mean you should be a librarian. Just like liking to cook doesn't mean you should be a cook. Remember, you would have to wear a hair net at work and white tops that get dirty and rubber gloves...........................oh, well, on second thought I would much prefer being a librarian. Oh yes I would. Who wants to wear a hairnet and rubber gloves for hours everyday?

You still have loads of time left to decide. There is no need for you to make a final decision right now. In a few years, you're calling will probably be clearer. Meanwhile, you could probably take a few cooking classes locally and volunteer at your local public library and see which one you enjoy more.

Hm, a culinary career could be very stressful, but it sounds more rewarding and exciting in my opinion. If that is what interests you the most, then I say go for it. You could change directions when you get older and want something totally different, but you need to make decisions on what will make you happy. Ultimately it's you who has to live with those choices.
