There is a lot in the bible that can't be taken literally. Sometimes that is because the speaker was using allegory, like the Book of Job or Jesus's parables, but sometimes it is because what was true at that ancient time is no longer true now, such as the Book of Philemon in the New Testament supporting slavery.

Lots of stuff like that.

But that doesn't mean that the central message of the Bible isn't true. It is true: God made the world, and love one another.

Wow, it's amazing and sad how ignorant the Christians of today's world are. It's no surprise that atheists can confidently say their way is far more logical, because when you take most of the responses just here for instance, you can see that plainly. People, you either believe 100% or 0%... there is no in-between. You can't believe just 67%, 33%, or even 99.99999% and really be a serious Christian.

That said, I believe all of the Bible is inspired of God and is entirely accurate. While some aspects of the Bible may not be quite as *relevant* today [however, most of the parables for instance, although taught in the language of the day, can still apply to Christians today, we just have to think them through and apply them to aspects of life today.] , that does not change its accuracy in any way at all.

It is truly consistent in it's message - it's amazing - the
"inconsistencies" that ppl complain about are not
so b/c of how the Bible describes things in paradox
with the limitations of language - you can begin to
see it more clearly though.
There are things I don't understand, especially in the
Old Testament. I don't "cherry pick" like some accuse
Christianity and other religions of doing, if you
really take the WHOLE message, you can see that
it is in no way "cherry picking" or picking only what
we like and leaving the rest.
I still see God's hand (His perfect plan) even in those
things that seem negative - it still works out for the
good and we don't even see the whole picture,
but we will someday!
There are paradoxes that seem incomplete, but
are not b/c it is such a wise book that understands
humanity to a T!

The Bible means different things to different people at all stages of our life's. Most of the Old Testament was written in parables, meaning a story with a moral message. There was no Adam and Eve, but the story is to teach us about obedience to God's law. People who try and read it literally, miss the point. When reading the Bible, each person should ask God to speak to his heart and reviel the meaning that they are suppose to learn.

YEP... I disagree with satan!!!

Oh.. wait.. that's not what you're asking, is it? Drat! Yes, I DO accept the Bible as the True and Inspired Word of God....

Even though it is really sixty-six individual books, written on three continents, in three different languages, over a period of approximately 1500 years, by more that 40 authors (who came from many walks of life), the Bible remains one unified book from beginning to end without contradiction. This unity is unique from all other books and is evidence of the divine origin of the words as God moved men in such a way that they recorded His very words.

In studying the lives of these men, there is no good reason to believe that they were not honest and sincere men. Examining their lives and the fact that they were willing to die (often excruciating deaths) for what they believed in, it quickly becomes clear that these ordinary yet honest men truly believed that God had spoken to them. The men who wrote the New Testament and many hundreds of other believers (1 Corinthians 15:6) knew the truth of their message because they had seen and spent time with Jesus Christ after He had risen from the dead. The transformation of seeing the Risen Christ had a tremendous impact on these men. They went from hiding in fear, to being willing to die for the message God had revealed to them.

I personally do not believe that adam and eve were the cause of human sin.

I also do not believe that a flood wiped out half of humanity just to save noah and his family, although I'd love to see that happen in today's modern world.

I do believe that in passover the first born of each son was murdered.. probably by a murderer, not a curse.

I do not believe in anything the bible says other than the teachings and lessons that revolve around what is right or wrong.

I don't believe anything in the Bible literally. It is primarily a book of history, and varies by the author. While one can say the Bible is the true word of the Christian lord, I don't see how considering the many translations of the book, the mis-edited, misinterpreted and completely deleted books, as well as the revisions of its authors and translators to their own beliefs.

The Bible is a great book to learn from. But I don't suggest you life your life by it.

The Adam and Eve story is a stretch. It is hard to reconcilate
the creation of the rest of their offspring.
Nevertheless, I am a huge believer

if someone handed me a phone book from their town of residence and said, "This is where I live" I would know that that was true to a certain extent, but I would also assume that there was more to it than that. I wouldn't ask, "which page do you sleep on?"
