"It is what comes out of a man that renders him impure(Matt15)
Even on the Weds and Fris of Pascha?
I like St Serafim but I'll take the New Testament over him or anyone else into self-torture( chains, kneeling on rocks, etc)
A Christian is abeliever in the creeds of Christ and who follows Him and His teachings by grace.
Fasting is a laudable practice but it is not necessary for salvation or Christian identity
Fasting and abstaining from meat, etc is also good if done in memory of Christ's death and resurrection for us.
Jesus did say"When you fast..." not "If you fast..."

I'm not sure the exact cannon number but every friday we are still suposed to do some penance whether that be fasting from meat or not doing something - basically we should do some penace since Friday is the day Jesus died for us. It is a good practice. Catholics during lent must fast from meat on all fridays and ash Wed and fast from normal meals on Good Friday and Ash Wed. Every other Wed. is it recommended to fast along with Sat. but I don't believe it is required.

Saint Seraphim of Sarov (July 19, 1759 – January 2, 1833), born Prokhor Moshnin (Прохор Мошнин), is one of the most renowned Russian monks and mystics in the Eastern Orthodox Church. He is generally considered the greatest of the nineteenth century startsy, and arguably the first. He is remembered for extending the monastic teachings of contemplation and self-denial to the layperson, and taught that the purpose of the Christian life was to acquire the Holy Spirit. He led an exemplary life of asceticism and piety, thus allowing him to achieve a level of enlightenment during his lifetime.
I do not think that his opinion and beliefs can be equated to Church law or doctrine.

FYI -- Roman Catholics fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, not every Wednesday and Friday. During Lent we abstain from meat on Fridays, but fasting is not required.

definite, Jesus fasted in the desolate tract yet at no time did he tell his followers it replaced right into a call for of Christians. He additionally finished miracles and died for our sins, issues we can't do, the two.

I don't know why someone who calls them self Christian wouldn't want to remember the betrayal of our Lord and his Crucifixion every week.

I think it matters more about what we think instead of what we actually do. Only fasting because you think you have to is idiotic. Now doing it because you want to is different.
