At first I really wanted it done. Now I'm not too sure.I'm 20 and have a daughter who will be 3 in Jan and a son that will be 1 in Feb.We are very happy with our family and got lucky with one of each. For some reason I keep having dreams and thinking about having one more child. My husband says no way.He says if I really want to he wants to wait until the kids are older like 5 or 6.I don't want to have to wait but he's tired of me staying home and him always working.I don't know what to do.I can get the surgery in Jan which is when I'll be 21 or not.I don't know what to do.I just wanted some serious feedback from people who care. Thanks!

You're 20!!! You're practically an infant yourself! Why would you have that surgery when you have another 20 years of childbearing years available to you???

Just because you have the equipment doesn't mean that you have to use it. You can have sex with your husband for the next 5, 10 15 or 20 years and not get pregnant if you don't want to...

Why be so drastic and have a surgery that may not be reversable???

You're only 20....you have no idea of what your future holds...don't cut off your options.

Good Luck

Heck no!!!! at 20. You never let know one talk you into doing something to your body that you don't agree with. If he feels so strongly about not having more children I'd advised him to get a vasectomy. You never know what the future holds.Oh yeah there's always the I.U.D.

IUD are the most popular form of reversible birth control in the world. More than 85 million women use them.

IUDs may improve a woman's sex life. There is nothing to put in place before intercourse to protect against pregnancy. Some women say they feel free to be more spontaneous because they do not have to worry about becoming pregnant.

ParaGard does not change a woman's hormone levels.

Mirena may reduce menstrual cramps and flow. Average flow is reduced by 90 percent. Flow stops altogether for about 20 percent of women within one year. Reduced flow may reduce iron deficiency anemia.

The ability to become pregnant returns quickly when IUD use is stopped.

The IUD is one of the most private methods of birth control. No one can tell you’re using it. There is no packaging or other evidence of use that might embarrass some users

Good luck finding a doctor that will really do the surgury for you. Most wont do it because your so young. I wouldnt do it, if your dreaming about it then you should wait until the kids are a little older.and then have another baby. u dont want to regret getting your tubes tied and then later really want another baby

YOU ARE 20... You shouldn't tie your tubes. I don't care how you feel right now about your kids and your life... things change!!

Absolutely... get an IUD... don't worry about kids for some years... but don't do anything you cannot reverse at this age. You can on permanent decisions later!!

you're too young to get your tubes tied....i wouldnt get them tied because you never know, in the future you may want more. the risks of ectopic pregnancy, if you decide to untie the tubes later in life. i would suggest some form of birth control on both parties. it takes two, so it should take two to take precautions in preventing a pregnancy.

why is he tired of you staying at home? does he want you to get a job?

i can think of several reasons to have the surgery. 1) don't want to contribute to overpopulation. there are too many people in the world already. you have replaced yourselves. 2) money. the little ones cost a lot. 3) you were lucky have two healthy already, why push your luck? 4) you have only so much time in a day, why not spend as much as you can with the two you already have instead of stretching yourself too thin? 5) hubby has a point about work. it really does take two incomes for comfortable living these days. how would you like it if he stayed home and took care of the kids while you went back to work? okay i think that's enough for now. i could probably go on all day. as you can tell, i have had this argument with myself before. hope it helps!

Do not get your or your husband's tubes tied, unless you never want any more children.
They are getting harder to reverse, as doctors develop 'better' ways of making them permanent.
