I am a Bible believing Christan, who studies and follows the scriptures, I also teach others, and point them to God's word.
When I want to brag about something, it is nothing other then Jesus Christ died for me. I always Give God the Credit. I also give Jesus Christ the credit for Salvation.

In contrast, you have these other religious groups. They all post here claiming "THEY" are the best. Be it Catholic, Jehovas witness, 7th day etc.. You must join "THEM" to get saved.

Why can't they just humble themselves, and give all the credit to Jesus Christ? Why must you puff up your religious organization?

I mean why be a walking bilboard for a religous organization, why not be the light of the world and promote Jesus Christ?

Honestly, I and in turn, my faith, draw attention to God and his son. I am a Christian, one of Jehovah's Witnesses. The fact that we strive to follow the Bible and the reasons why, are clear becons for Christ.

Jesus is a savior and your religious denomination an expression of that faith. While I always think of myself as a Christian first, people tend to ask about your religious background -- no problem as I was raised in church and I do not mind being transparent. As for denomination, I have my thoughts on certain groups and hearing about someone else's experience is always a means of getting to know about their walk with GOD. Personally, I prefer the individual who transparently defends his/her religious dogma openly as a __________ in this forum. In reading the questions I find the open defense of a specific denomination more honest than just getting on here and misrepresenting yourself as neutral when you're not -- I worry the subterfuge will lead seeking, new Christians away from a genuine examination of God's Word.

The various systems of faith are all based off of one thing...the Roman Catholic Church. Man's tradition has once again overshot the Word of God and so while each of us may have access to this sacred text so few of us actually study it to any in depth degree so therefore we are susceptible to the misindoctrination of man's understanding of the Word rather than what God would have each of us find as Truth within its pages. Just a few of the traditions that man has complicated the Word of God with are these...

These are some of the misconceptions taught as doctrine in mainstream churches today:

1. Immediate dispensation ~ When you die you either go to heaven or to hell.

2. Hell is a place of eternal suffering.

3. Immortality of the soul.

4. Sunday sacredness.

5. Soul and spirit are the same ie; soul equals spirit and body.

6. We each have our own individual spirits that don't die.

7. The trinity - God in three persons.

8. Communion - The Lords Supper - Rememberance ceremony.

9. Old testament rendered null.

10. Gifts of the Spirit ~ tongues and laying on of hands.

11. Church benevolence. (ie; must we have a bake sale in order to raise funds for a recreation center available only to our own members that serves the public in no way, shape or form?)

12. The Bible is full of obscure, hard to understand, crude language and references so that the average person cannot understand it.

13. Christians are not subject to the Commandments.

14. The Divinity of Christ...Is He God? Yes He Is.

Some of these points might affect salvation and some not..I dunno. What a few of them do is make christianity and following God a struggle when it doesn't have to be...it also creates a situation where the disciple or student of Christ is being handed tiny tid bit crumbs of scripture from uwhen we are in fact supposed to be gorging ourselves in the bread of life. Its the only thing on this planet that indulgence of appitite is encouraged...the hunger for knowledge of God and the thirst after rightiousness. This sitting up in the elaborately decorated sanctuary of a multi-million dollar facility as a band plays while people follow the music on a huge powerpoint display, then listen to a half hour sermon on how to be more financially successful or get along with your neighbors as you sip a hot latte from the espresso stand out in the lobby is not what God had in mind...at least I don't see that in scripture. The Bible states this:

James 1:27
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

If the Catholic Church had stayed to that concept then there would be a lot more Christians in the world today...and no atheist on the planet could point and mock or scoff. Yet, every religious system on the planet that calls itself christian is simply the bastard child of that faith system. Even the so-called non-denominational church. Truth is being spread by other means and I see that now and it does my heart good. My goal is to never promote one faith system over another but to promote the Word of God as it stands alone as a testamony without the addition or subtraction of man's understanding. To each his own...love in Christ, ~J~

I hadn't seen this question yet but it makes a good point. So many Christians divide the body of Christ by dividing themselves. Compare denominations of Christianity to denominations of money. What's the difference? Nothing. Money is divided into denominations just as Christianity is divided into denominations. It would be too much like the right thing to do if we could all respect each others way of worshiping God.

Being died in the wool C of E I can only say Christ Died for my sins. Most of us need an earthly authority for guidence and I think that if we do boast it is a boast to say that the guidence I recieve from my Church (organisation) is wiser and more in touch with my spiritual needs than another.

Sadly I feel that the C of E all to often lets us down in this and so I often have to turn to the Church of Rome to examine the guidence there and see if I believe it makes some sense. it does not always

I wonder how many of those poor children would still be alive today if the current teaching on accepting all blood fractions was in force then. How many have died from old teachings that are no longer applicable? 1 Corinthians 2:14 But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.

They cannot humble themselves because they do not believe. They simply want to believe that they have aligned themselves with the "right team". I personally grew up Catholic my entire life and have no faith in organized religion. I believe that it corrupts and retards the ideologies of true believers in Christ and followers of HIS word...not the churches interpretation of his word.
