I just bought a 2 lb. bag of Jamine rice last night and I paid 2.29, But if I would have gotten regular long grain rice ... a 2 lb bag was 1.49

I agree with some answers...
I depends what your really want... Like if you want rice just for you then I would recommend a small box which sells for about $1.69 or $2.25. An if you want rice for 2 or more then a would suggest the 5 lb. bag which is more like $3.99 to $5.00 plus you will be able to save the rest in a plastic container and use the rest some other day!
And definately the brand and size is important:
Brand Is important because of the color-- some are darker and some are Lighter=== Prefer to by the lighter. GOYA brand is great and Also CANILLA.
If you buy Medium Grain = less water added
If you Buy Long/ exLong Grain= more water added

That totally depends on the kind of rice you are buying. Some of the more exotic rices are very expensive.
Are you buying rice in the silly little boxes at the grocery store? About $1.50 a box for a few ounces.
Are you going to buy in 25 or 50 pound bulk sacks of rice, as I do? Then it's .25-.50 cents a pound on average.

Not much, a bag costing a couple of dollars would last one person approximately a couple of weeks if you ate it quite regularly.
