I was forced through catholic school, somehow being something that felt like a divine cult or group, as I grew I began to ask questions, like, why should I feel guilty about being sexually attracted to the opposite sex

so I began to ask questions

sexual thoughts were dirty, and evil, according to the divine teachings of god, himself, or itself?

as I asked more questions I gained more knowledge, through this knowledge I found power

power to live my life free from regime and cult-like order

but one question remains

why did my religion threaten me with hell, if I did not follow it?

we were taught the same commandments and teachings, of any christian, followed the same testament, the "new" bible

It's not a threat, but a promise. The bible is divided into testaments for a reason. The bible is the last will and testament of what God has for us, His children, and what has to be done in order to receive it. Certain RELIGIONS may seem like a cult, but a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with God is not at all. We have to come to a point in life where we are no longer bound be the customs and traditions of religion and build a relationship with God. You can go to church every Sunday, sing in the choir, become a minister, etc. but that won't get you into heaven. It's not about what you do, but instead who you know. God created us and knows that we are sinners. I'll use your example about sex. God knows we are going to think about sex because He created us to have these desires. It's not a sin to have them, only to allow them to consume you.

The Bible warns of hell;
1Cr 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
1Cr 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

So, set aside the catholic religion for a moment. The REAL question is- is the Bible reliable?

If you take the time to seriously investigate the Bible, you will find that it is, without a doubt, the inspired word of God.

People invest 4 years of their lives and thousands of dollars to go to universities to obtain a degree in some field that will benefit them for 60 years, if that.

Why not invest some time attending a good Bible study once a week for a year or two, it doesn't cost any money, and pays eternal dividends.

Because they were loosimg control of you. You were asking quedstios that you were not supposed t o even think about. Because you were strting to use your free will. One by one threats like this are creating empty pews. Use your free will that God gave you and making mistakes are part of life. When you make a mistake, you look at it see what you have done wrong and the consequences, and decide not do do or say that again. Thus you have gone one step further to find what you, personally are seeking.

Why did your RELIGION threaten you with hell if you did not follow IT (your RELIGION)? All RELIGIONS threaten people with hell for not following the RELIGION. Catholicism is a RELIGION.

God does not "threaten" us. He sent His Son as a way for us to be reconciled to Him. Don't join a RELIGION. Get a RELATIONSHIP with God, through His Son, Jesus Christ.

BTW - God made sex. God made everything. He made it not as something dirty, but as something fun. Satan, who MADE nothing, is the father of all lies and takes things that God made for good and twists them. Sex is something to be enjoyed between a husband and wife. Satan came in and told everyone to have sex with whatever moves. RELIGION then comes in and tries to counter Satan, not with the truth (sex is good, clean, fun - in proper context), but with another lie - "Sex is dirty and evil."

In the Garden of Eden, God said the truth. Satan came in with a lie, and then Eve was where you were "She began to question - did God REALLY say that.....?" And that's how sin entered the world. By mankind hearing a lie from Satan, and questioning the truth that God had said.

Follow SCRIPTURE. The Bible. Not RELIGION. God doesn't want you to have a relationship with a religion - He wants you to have a relationship with Him.

Catholics are a cult and not saved. Catholicism teaches a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell.

You were threatened so as to keep you under their control and influence. It is a cult tactic; fear and phobia induction.
