This is a Vineyard wedding with a Caribbean themed reception. We're Caribbean so think bright colors (fuchsia and mango) Reception we are having a steel band. The venue is both outside ceremony (waterside gazebo) and inside reception in a ballroom. People will be throwing petals as we leave the ceremony (outdoors) down the aisle. After pictures and cocktail hour when we arrive in the ballroom I wanted a grand entrance and was thinking a bubble machine before our first dance. Ballroom has hardwood floors. Just the machine on long enough for the bridal party to be introduced by the emcee and out first dance. I see everyone is torn but I'm hoping so some insight since so am I.

Our DJ had a bubble machine he used while we were dancing. It gave the room a very romantic feel to it and it made for some beautiful pictures as well. One sidenote though is he uses waterless bubbles so when they popped it would not leave a wet stain on the floor or on our clothing. Look into this. I thought it was a great idea.
Edit: Our bubbles never made the floor slippery or ruined our clothing and we had lots of bubbles.

Hi Cocoa,
Bubble Machines can be great if they are outside, although if the bubbles land on marble or tile this will cause the floor to become very slippery. It is very easy for someone not payinf attention or walking in with non slick shoes or high heels to slip and fall. I have a bubble machine that I use as a DJ, but I hardly use it for this reason at weddings. I always let the party know before hand the situation using bubbles. Bubbles can be very nice outside, but inside a hall or outside where the bubbles will fall on tile is dangerous and messy.
Take Care!

The only problem I see with this is that it gets you all sticky and the dance floor is a huge mess afterward because even though you do not realize it at the time the bubbles hit your shoes and then you step on the dance floor. My sister had a bubble dance as the very last dance and it looked awesome in pictures and we did not have to worry about anyone getting injured. Plus I do not know how you girls are but my girls in my wedding would have not been to crazy about bubbles flying at their face or around them when they are trying to look hot and beautiful for their dates or husbands when they enter the room, and the bubbles are sticky trust me. What we did was dance in, this way you are still doing something different and then when my husband and I left our friends and family did sparklers as we left and the pics turned out amazing. Just have fun even if you want to do the bubbles, just be careful of the dancing and sticking!!! Good luck

I love bubbles more than the average person does. BUT... logically speaking... think about this. You're bridal party is shelling out anywhere from $50 to a couple hundred dollars for bridesmaid dresses, the groomsmen are renting (more than likely). You've spent an arm and a leg on your dress, your hair and your makeup. Your groom looks spotless....
You walk in the door... and are showered with soap. Bubbles are beautiful... until they pop. They will mess up your clothes, your hair, they will get on the floor making it slippery. And if you get those "everlasting bubbles" (like my cousin did), they leave a funny lil film on everything, making everything look polka-dotted.
I personally would vote against bubbles on the entrance... now on the exit... when its just the two of you gettin a lil soapy... the little bottles would be cute i guess.

DON'T DO IT!!! my wedding dress consultant told me that the soap in the bubbles will stain your dress and those of your wedding party maybe try a fog machine or ask someone who works at a bridal shop even if you don't do anything it will still be a grand entrance!

Personally, i think that that sounds kind of tacky but it is your wedding so you should do what you want to do. You might also want to make sure that where ever you are having the wedding will allow you to use that. Some places won't let you do certain things, the contract for my wedding has a few restrictions.

I have to be totally honest, I think it is kind of lame. Bubbles do not equal grand and they're also kind of tacky.
Also, don't go with overly loud music, not tasteful. Are we talking about an indoor wedding or outdoor? You have more options outdoors, but how about dimming the lights and using a spotlight? Outside, pyrotechnics!!

I think that is an awesome idea. As long as it goes with your theme. I mean make sure your having a fun and carefree wedding...not a black tie waltz type of wedding. But I really like that idea!
