Inland Revenue is now HM Revenue & Customs - they merged with Customs & Excise last year.

If they can't help you, try and dig out any P60s and Payslips that you should have been provided by your employer(s) - these contain exact amounts of tax paid (N.I. Contributions & Income Tax). This normally looks like your Payslip but has information on tax paid for a full tax year (April - March inclusive). You should have been provided with these around May or June of that year. For Example, tax paid in 2006/07 (April 2006 - March 2007) on P60 distributed in May / June 2007.

If you don't currently possess these the best thing would be to contact your employer(s) during these years and ask for a copy of all your Payslips and any P60s. P60s are better as they give a snapshot of the entire tax year!

Failing that I'd try HM Revenue & Customs again. They SHOULD be able to help as they have all information on taxes - THEY tell your employer on how much THEY should contribute for tax, on your behalf!

GOOD LUCK

:-)

Which part of the Inland Revenue did you contact?

All details of earnings and national insurance contributions paid should have been entered onto the computer in Newcastle.

Contact details are in the link below. You should get a reply reasonably quickly but be prepared for a long wait for the actual information as they are in the process of upgrading or something and are slow in issuing such things as pension forecasts etc.

Did you not retain copies of your P60's (the tax forms sent out each year)? The Inland Revenue is now called HMRC. They do not issue copies of these, but you could ask them to send you a statement of your national insurance contributions which should be satisfactory for your government's purposes.

Well, I'm afraid that if you didn't keep your P60s, you're stuffed.
HMRC don't keep records in any form which will give you that info from 15 years ago.

HMRC only keeps records for 6 years, as do employers. so, unless you have this info yourself, there is no way of obtaining it.
