I have a folding workbench (Workmate) that has a bamboo top. I also have a couple pieces of unfinished oak flooring sitting on it. And they've been sitting outside for about 6 months. The oak is weathering somewhat, as you would expect wood to do. But, the bamboo top on the workbench is getting covered in a layer of black mold.

The problem with bamboo is that it's a grass, not a wood. So, it's more susceptible to problems like molding, rotting, and bugs.

Now, if you are buying a rattan (cane) or bamboo swing that has been treated with paint or a clear sealer, that might not be a problem. But, just know that bamboo is more susceptible to weathering and aging problems than wood.
