1) I don't know what the Pope and bishops do with the money donated to the Catholic church, so I am unable to respond specifically to your statement. I am aware that the Catholic church has numerous charities and helps out in the world, providing for the needs of the less fortunate.
My church uses a large portion of its resources (monies and people) to help not only in our neighborhoods, but also in other parts of the world. I think you will find it true for the vast majority of denominations.
2) I have to say, I've not had had sex with 10 people in 2 years. My husband and I are faithful to one another. We live our lives in obedience to Christ, (yes we have fussed at each other, and sometimes not been as kind as we could be). Again, most of the Christians I know live out what they believe. There are struggles which come along with it. And yes, there are plenty of hypocritical people in the church. My experience is this. There are plenty more outside the church, people who claim goodness, or assert that they are non-judgmental and yet they speak with forked tongue.
You asked for respectful answers... and yet your question lacked the same respect... isn't that a bit hypocritical? I am not talking about your "evidence". I am talking about the name calling. I am also talking about the generalization ... people just love pretending.
Are you?
3) Finally, It is by Jesus Christ that we are even able to come to terms with our human failings. And mercifully it is by His power and His grace, mercy and love that we are able to overcome these failings. No matter where you are in your life Christ can reveal to you your heart, and he can mend and heal your wounded spirit. I know of no other who can fulfill that promise. And so one by one Christ will change this world, from a place rife with the evil workings of Satan, to one blessedly replenished day by day for all eternity with His love, peace, mercy and joy.

You are completely right! There are many good people that aren't members of any religion, and many evil people that are. NO one is perfect, except God and Christ!
There will never be a perfect church, just the true church run by men that are mortal, that of course are not infallible and still make mistakes. Christ is the only human on earth that can turn the world around, and it will happen someday.
There is no excuse for sin, that's why we need the atonement. The world will never be perfect, but like you point out everyone could do better at making this world a better place for everyone.

Do you understand what being AGNOSTIC means?
A model agnostic would say "I don't know, but maybe it can be figured out."
Agnosticism (from the Greek a, meaning "without", and gnosticism or gnosis, meaning "knowledge") is the philosophical view that the truth value of certain claims—particularly metaphysical claims regarding theology, afterlife or the existence of God, gods, deities, or even ultimate reality—is unknown or, depending on the form of agnosticism, inherently unknowable due to the nature of subjective experience.
Agnostics claim either that it is not possible to have absolute or certain knowledge of the existence or nonexistence of God or gods; or, alternatively, that while individual certainty may be possible, they personally have no knowledge. Agnosticism in both cases involves some form of skepticism.
Demographic research services normally list agnostics in the same category as atheists and non-religious people,[1] although this can be misleading depending on the number of agnostic theists who identify themselves first as agnostics and second as followers of a particular religion.

I feel that when people start to look for the negative views of ANYTHING, they are generally unhappy with life and like to pick it apart, piece by piece to find the wrongs, and are unwilling to focus on anything positive in the world.
Religion is such a personal subject that no one will have the right answer for you.
So I guess until you have absolute proof, you will have this feeling.
Try to see the positive side of what religion stands for, and be happy with those findings.
Or focus on something that YOU CAN BELIEVE in! Life me get better if you do!!

You are right, there is alot of hypocrisy. But you can't judge the presence or absence of God by the presence or absence of sin. Jesus came for the sinners, the hypocrites, the lost, the proud, the liars, adulterers, murderers. He didn't come for people that didn't need him, that had it all together. The same grace that covers me covers the bishops, and even the pope if he has chosen to accept it, but only God knows who knows him for sure.
I would encourage you to seek God on your own, not through bishops, priests, or any man or woman in a leadership position. Remember that they are human. They will fail, otherwise they wouldn't even need HIM.

In the end, people are able to choose which religion they would like to follow. As long as I am respected then I will respect someone else's choice. As for the things you mentioned, we are all fallible. You probably have cash floating around that you could donate to charity but choose to invest in some frivolous thing. I understand that there is a difference between a Church and a 'normal' human being and I understand the things you're pointing out but people are allowed to choose what they like. I'm not Christian, either.

Uh, so you get to be rude, and we aren't?
What you don't seem to have considered is the truth of the claims of religion. It's odd that that seems to be completely irrelevant to you.
I can see not believing Catholicism because of the 1.
2 is simply not true of all believers.
The reason to not be religious is that there's no evidence for the truth of the claim that there's a god.
Why do you not consider that relevant?

As salaamu 'alaikym, my angry young friend.
Insha'Allah, why are Christians so divided and hateful towards one another?
Don't you all read the same Gospels (which were canonized and codified by the Roman Catholic Church before any protestants existed)?
Don't you all practice not judging so that you will not be judged, loving your neighbor as yourself, treating others as you would like to be treated, not trying to take the splinter out of your brothers eye until you have removed the log from your own, living in voluntary poverty so that you can help the needy, the homeless, the hungry, the ill, the aged and the orphans?
Insha'allah, may Allah, Ssubhanna wa Ta'ala, guide you all to the truth and grant you peace.
Ma'a salaam.

point 1. well said dude, have a star! The Vatican City is sitting on a fortune while people starve to death!!!!
point 2. erm...not so fully with you, I don't consider sex a sin, so I can't really relate, but yeah religious people *are* hyprocrites, there's no avoiding that fact.
Just read the Oprah thing, you're right again - she doesn't claim to be the saviour of humanity, (unlike our mad christian representatives) she's a business woman.

Relax, young man. Be happy that you are comfortable in your own skin. You will not convince anyone to give up their faith. Is that what you want? Do you think that Christians are the only hypocrites out there? What did you do for the millions starving all over the world?

Sad happenings, sad events, nice stories, happy things are all in the game of life. Whatever vocations we are in, people are people, the creations of God subject to err as part of the original sin. But the path to follow to be with God is always there, within us, in our works and deeds.
