Heaven will be perfect. But will men still have the ability to choose?

Adam and Eve lived in a garden paradise, but part of the PERFECTNESS of the creation was that Adam and Eve had free will, as represented by the tree of life and the tree of knowledge which were forbidden...

In Heaven, our new paradise without evil, will our free-will be taken away? If so, does that make us robots, or slaves to God?

Yes, of course it will be possible to sin in Heaven ... but we won't want or need to sin when we are there, so we won't. 'Sin' is the condition of 'not knowing everything we need to know' and God will (and is doing that now) teach us what we need to know BEFORE we get to Heaven. Yes, we will still have 'free will' ... but we will all be 'sensible' and 'reasonable' and we won't WANT to 'sin.'

Good question. I've actually been thinking a lot about this same question. I think there's a lot we don't know about heaven. I do know that God wanted us to have free agency, and he's not going to take that away from us. Maybe there won't be bad choices to choose from. Satan will have no power over us.

This is the only thing I can think of. My image of heaven is a constant stage of learning new things which takes work on our part. We need to learn everything about the body and how the universe functions. So, what if with our own free will we choose to be lazy and not work that hard on learning those things. Or will we not even feel the tendency to be lazy? I don't know but I like your thinking.

You will have the CHOICE but those who are in Heaven will not WANT to sin.
Sin entered the world before Adam and Eve were made. We were born into a world where a battle had already begun.

All needs and wants will be met and there will be no urge to rebel.
That is part of the perfectness.

Yes, Heaven will be perfect, but I don't believe man will have choices persey, like they do now on Earth. If you remember, the Garden of Eden was on Earth, not in Heaven, so naturally there was the whole good vs. evil struggle. If you live in a perfect society such as Heaven, where all is good, why would you even need free will? It's not like you're going to be having to choose between Walmart and Kmart. I believe in Heaven you are given specific jobs to do until your loved ones arrive. I don't believe those jobs are negotiable and since once you are in Heaven you no longer know sadness, anger or confusion, you won't be able to make those sort of choices. As for slaves to God...nah. I believe once in Heaven, we will all walk equal to God.

You ask a god question. Now I'm an odd duck on this issue but I do believe we will have a free will when we get to heaven.First of all you pointed out that Adam and Even was in a place without evil but they had a will . Now Lucifer which is the devil lived in heaven and chose to rebel against God. I think we will have freedom of choice up there.

I think people will still have free will in Heaven. If you are the type who makes it to Heaven, then you are the type who will freely choose not to sin. Free will encompasses a lot more than choosing whether or not to sin. For instance, career choices are an example of free will in action without necessarily needing to be about whether or not to sin.

Not what you are searching for...but organized religion makes people slaves to God anyways. Everything good in me is from God, but everything bad is my imperfection...that type of conditioning is eerily similar to the tactics used by man to manipulate other men. People often keep others down by pointing out their inferiority to the "superior" group.

Additionally, no one has any knowledge of heaven. Who's to say that if heaven exists that consciousness as we know it exists in heaven? Do "choices" even exist in the afterlife?

In a place devoid of evil, sin cannot exist, nor can the extremes of good and evil. In "Heaven" you will have no need of free will, and it is not that all will be provided, it is that you will want for nothing. You will experience bliss, complete contentment, and so forth and desire nothing to attain it. You will finally be in balance.

cool question. i like the answers too. if satan could sin in heaven, there is sin in heaven. and there was a war between the Michael the Archangel and Lucifer and a bunch of other angels too....so, can you die in heaven?

seems silly to have a war if no one can die. so, if i can sin in heaven, and people can die.....does that mean people can commit murder in heaven? and where do you go when you die in heaven?

what if god sins in heaven? does god have free will too? if he sins in heaven does he go to hell? and then who is charge of heaven? man, all this 'sin in heaven' talk is really making me think weird thoughts....can i rape an angel in heaven? oh no...thats going to bring about thumbs downs for sure....

Well Lucifer is in hell because rebelled against God. The whole theory is that we will not WANT to sin. Why that is I don't know.

Just the fact we will be so happy we won't want to do anything bad. Can you though? I pretty sure you can still have free choice. Lucifer did.
