I am just not sure how to go about this. I have asked God to save me, but have felt no different afterwards. I don't go to church, I am starting to do homestudy here at my house. I want to feel the excitement for the Lord that I see in so many others. Any advice?

Jesus said how. Here is Christianity in two verses:
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. ( John 3 )

Let me show you a definition of the word faith that I use:

Faith is an action, based upon belief, sustained by confidence.

So you told God that you believed in His Son Jesus, and that you want to be a part of His promises? Then be confident. Doubt has no place in His people. The word "AMEN" refers to a state of mind: "No Doubt". So when you say "Amen" you are saying that you don't doubt the words - you are in trust of what He said. It may do you some good to tell God that you believe Him, and at the end of those words, AMEN them.

If you asked Jesus into your house you are a Christian. Most Christians attend a church at least occasionally if not more. The reason is that Christian fellowship is encouraging to you and others and strengthens you in your walk. By attending a good church you will be able to hear others express their faith and you will learn to express yours. Bible study is good and daily prayer is a must.

For a new Christian, you should start with the Gospels and then move on to Act and then Romans. Skip the confusing stuff like Revelations and the Old Testament until you are more grounded and are ready to chew on something that is harder to digest.

I'm sorry but why is everyone soooooooo biased..christians against muslims...athiests against chirstians...muslims againts christians...hating others is not WHAT ANY GOD (as far as i know)has commanded! Why do you think that in the christian bible that jesus guy went through God's temple and through the tables over or whatever! BECAUSE THERE WAS CORUPTNESS IN THE HOUSE OF GOD! You are all hypocrytes and biased.
Yes, now i shall recieve a bad rating for stating my opinion....
but i adamantly believe that most religions show a god of love..
from what i have read, in the christian religion, god's very nature is love. thats pretty powerful when i started thinking about it...because that requires alot of love...theres even 12 seccular sources that say that jesus died on a cross...some of them mention a darkness that surrounded the earth..i can only rule out that this eclpise or whatever happened had to come from a god, or he just got lucky...some writings (non-christian ones) mention jesus life of love...if you dont believe me theres a movie called Jesus Fact or Fiction which has much validity to it.
Good Luck. e-mail me if you need talk.

Salvation is an individual thing. So what makes you feel fulfilled in the Lord will be unique unto you.

THat said, study is good. The more you learn, the better decisions you will make as to how you choose to worship the Lord.

DO go to a good, Bible-based church. I know the tv ministers are good to listen to - but nothing beats a real, live pastor who actually knows your name and your situation.

Now then, as far as salvation is concerned - well, again it's an individual thing. We were studying this just recently in my church - you have to Recognize an emptiness within you (it's the "death" you have to undergo before you can be reborn) Fortunately, this you have done, so now you have to Repent of your sins. Then you have to Request and Receive forgiveness from God in Jesus Christ's name. Then you Rejoice in that fulfilled feeling you will have because you are now REBORN.

NOW THE WORK BEGINS. See, just because you accept Jesus as your Savior - you are now responsible for cleaning up any mess you may have made while you were "Lost." Such as repaying debts, apologizing for any misdeeds you did - etc. etc. etc. AND you have to learn a whole new way of living. Changing habits is hard - For example, you may feel that the pack-a-day habit you have is now unacceptable. But it's hard to quit smoking - especially under stress and such. Sure your faith will help - but we are human and bound to stumble no matter what. So once you're a Christian - the real work begins.

But it's worth it. Truly it is. A good life based on faith and Christian love is a wonderful thing.

Looking forward to having you with us!

You certainly got a lot of answers on this question. My opinion is to seek the advice of a Christian pastor or counselor or even a Christian friend that can talk to you about it. Try to read the Bible (especially the book of Romans or the Gospel of John) as much as possible and ask the Lord in prayer for understanding.

Those after the first resurrection have no need to be saved, (salvation is of the Jews). We are under grace, to receive grace we do nothing it is a gift. To be received as a Son of God the Father, do His will, as told by His Son Jesus.

Read the 4 Gospels and the book of Revelation, this is the truth concerning where we come from, how we got here, why we are here, and where we go from here. Do not believe any one's words other those Words found in the 4 Gospels, and the book of Revelation. Do not believe the churches !!!

1st go to http://cmrbc.org/gospel.html and read
"If you died right now, are you 100% sure you would go to Heaven?" it not that long.

2nd Trust God! God tell us "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13
if you did this you are saved!!!!!
You may not fell that different sometime and we all fell that way sometimes. This is the time that we need to start growing in Christ and get in his word and just start reading The Bible. If you do not have a Bible go to: http://ironsharp.com/bible/bible.php you can read it for free.

One more thing to do that helps a lot is find a church. It can be hard to do now days but try! You may love the first one you go to you may not. But keep praying about it and that God will sind you to the one he would have you go to. God will help you trust hem.

P.S.
http://ironsharp.com/ and http://cmrbc.org/ have free sermons online. One of them should have something that should have you too.
One last thing

The most important is have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal saviour. We can only go to the Father through Jesus. Repented for your sins? Asked for the Holy Spirit to fill you? To feel the joy of the Lord, you must realize what He has done for you and what He has saved you from. This is an intimate relationship that only you determine how far it's going to go. God wants us to depend, hunger, thirst after Him, to show Him we want Him to have His Way.

First of all comes the REPENTANCE. To Repent means to be truly, truly sorry for all the sins in your life. Admit that you are a sinner(everyone is a sinner, because we were born in sin). Ask for forgiveness of your sins, then, ask Jesus into your heart. You must believe that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, who made Himself man, and came to earth to die on the cross for all of our sins, so that we may be reconciled with the Father. Accept Him as your Lord and Savior, then, live your life according to His will, and not yours. You will be Born Again, and He will give you a new Heart, and you will become a new creature in Christ. After you have done this, please find a good Bible based church to go to, so you can worship with others like yourself, and you can stay in God's Word. There is nothing wrong with studying at home, but if you rely on your own understanding, sometimes you will miss the true meaning of Scripture. I pray for you to be saved at this time. Jesus said "The time for redemption is NOW." This means you should be saved now, because you do not know what tomorrow will bring. You could die tonight, and will not be saved, thus, you will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I can see that you have the desire to know the Lord!! That is exciting in itself. That is the most important thing. Jesus said "Seek, and ye shall find." He means if you are truly seeking to find Him, you will, my friend, you will. Just remember you must repent, and accept Him into your heart. Read your Bible everyday (Start with the 4 gospels). Get to know God through His wonderful word, and welcome to the family of God! Bless you as you start your new journey as one of His beloved children!

First, pray to the Holy Spirit to help you understand. Then get a bible, King James Version of 1611 is the best and most accurate. After that, seek out other "Bible believing" Christians to fellowship with. Look for non-denominational, vs. denominations like Catholic, Lutheran, Jehovas Witness.

Don't put too much weight on what you feel, put your trust in Jesus and the word of God.

Trust that Jesus died for you, and you choose him to be saved.
