If so, why did God create it (or the potential for it) in the first place?

So men could have freedom of choice? So His creation could have free-will?

Does that mean that when God finally destroys evil that His creation will no longer have free will?

and if not, why did God create the potential for evil in the first place, when He obviously had the ability to create an initial paradise?

Will sin be possible in Heaven?

There isn't a soul alive that can answer all of your questions. Because, we don't know all. We can only see part of the picture. What we see is like a photograph, we can't see beyond the picture. The Bible tells us that God will destroy satan and all his minions; they will be cast into the lake of fire.
As to the answer of why freedom of choice or why free will, or why God created the potential for evil in the first place, nobody truly knows. That is what trust is all about. Trusting God has a purpose and a plan and we will know those answers one day. We don't have to know everything. We don't have to solve everything. We don't have to worry about all of that. There is much more to this story than just us (people), there is a whole spiritual warfare going on that we can't even see. I believe that we will be amazed when it is all revealed to us and that right now in our human state, we probably could not comprehend it.

God is good, perfect, holy.....sin will not be possible in Heaven.

You answered some of your own questions.
My understanding of the Bible is yes all evil will be destroyed. Evil was created for freedom of choice, free will. When God destroys evil his creation (man) will have passed or failed. I have heard and accept the answer that God did not just create a paradise in order that we be able to choose to follow Him or fall away. Those in paradise will truly belong there.

"Sin" was possible in heaven and Lucifer DID in attitude and actions and when this rebelliousness was "found" in him, he was cast from heaven!! Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, which works mainly was to deceive mankind into thinking that they can live and choose outside of their heavenly father. We can choose to obey/follow/cooperate with God or we can choose to disobey/go our own way/rebel against God which brings us under the bondage and worship of the devil, now known as satan: the devil.
Jesus came to take care of this choice business and give it back and those who choose Him, are restored to all the dominion, power and authority OVER all the power of the devil.., and he know it!
The potential of evil is the result of freewill choices..., and yes He DID make an initial paradise known as the Garden of Eden. When each one of us who choose Jesus as our substitute, our champion, our Savior, our Lord, we continue to have free will and that is because of LOVE.
If God made us with no choice factor, we would have been robots; preprogramed entities without the ability to 'BECOME' God's true children with the capacity to love and respond and be grateful!! He wants "like-minded" beings with which to share eternity!!
How about you having a true intimate relationship (not sex) with a rock?? or an ostrich? or a squirrel? WE are not in the category of animals, we of the God-kind spiritually and can think and observe and have awareness of our own thoughts.
When Jesus ascended back into heaven after His resurrection, he took part of His shed blood and poured it again on the mercy seat of the TRUE ark of the Covenant and cleansed all the sin and defilement that Lucifer's rebellion had left in heaven along with the rebellion of one-third of the angels. It is clean and will not ever receive sin again.
Each individual person now is forever cleansed by the blood of Jesus who accept His sacrifice for their sins and follows Him as their Lord.
It's a "done deal" and can't be un-done.
No sin in heaven or upon the New Earth after the sinners who don't want redemption are thrown into hell with the devil and his angels!
We will forever be with the Lord in paradise doing wonderful God-things.

so long as light exists darkness shall too.
so long as god exists, evil shall too.
because one makes the other and without one, there is no need for the other to exist.
if there were no evil we wont need god, and god will cease to exist.
if god created evil to give us the freedom of choice, then why do we have to suffer hell for commiting the evil ? was nt it god's choice to give us the freedom in the first place ? why would he punish us for choosing something the option that he gave us ?
what does god have to do with free will ? did the millions of children starving and dying of various diseases around the world " choose " to do so ?
sin will definitely be possible in heaven since they is so much scope for all 7 sins with all the wonderful food around, and the beautiful virgins, so much free time on hand without any work to do.
but if you sin in heaven will they send you to hell from there ?
this in turn begs the question, if you are good in hell why should you not be sent to heaven ?
sort of like reducing the sentence of a prisoner on the basis of good conduct, if you may.

It will be destroyed, but those who decide to still do it,will still be destroyed..We have freewill to choose Him or not to choose Him and if u choose not to choose Him,then u reap the consequences..We will always have freewill to choose Him or not..I dont know why He created the potential for evil, maybe so we can choose whats right..Heaven,as u say, will be here on earth, not in the sky.So if there is sin when He establishes His kingdom here,it will still be destroyed, rather the ones who do it will be destroyed,by the people who reside in the kingdom, cause theres no room for sin in the kingdom..Shalom

God will not destroy evil. Evil is and always will be, just like good. Evil and Good are basic elements that can not be destroyed. BUT the scriptures make it very clear that after judgement day Satan and his followers will be cast out or imprisoned (away from the good). It is true that evil is allowed to be here so that we can be tested, tried, and so we can exercise our free will but after we have proven ourselves we will no longer have to endure the constant onslaught we now experiance from Satan.

Got my fingers crossed for 2012. And no, sin is never possible in Heaven. Why would such the most disgusting most evil, vile of all things be allowed in Heaven? The minute Satan sinned, he was casted away.

God did not create evil. Satan did because of his pride and the first human couple went with him. That messed it up for everybody as their descendants.

By breaking their one law, both man and Satan chose to deny God had a right to rule them. God has allowed time for the matter to be settled. Man has tried every form of government and failed miserably with each one. We can't rule ourselves and the earth as we are. We need God's rule. That is the planet and populace's only hope.

I think people are missing the essence of this question.

I'd argue that evil is pointless if God exists. He could have created us with perfect happiness and completey good with temptation or tests. He could have made us without free will and we would never have known the difference. The only thing we gain with free will is the possibility of going to hell.
