I personally use common-sense to govern my life.

For some it does. I went to a catholic college, dont get me wrong I am catholic also, but some people are hardcore. They wont do anything remotely bad, watch or hear anything bad, they let their religion dictate the fun they have and how they live their life, I cant stand that.

That's a scary thought--most people these days don't have enough common sense to fill a penny loafer!

I live under grace, which means that though I am free from the curse of the Law (10 Commandments), I am still to strive to live a perfect life according to the teachings of Christ.
He taught the ultimate law of love, paraphrased as "Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength and love your neighbor (fellow-man) as yourself." With the Holy Spirit to guide me through the Scriptures, prayer, and the example of other Christians, I try to live my life according to that.
Of course, I'm human, so I will fall short of that goal, but then I repent and ask for forgiveness (from the Lord and from the person I've offended if necessary).

When I get it wrong, I'm in the flesh and not allowing the Lord to lead me. When I get it right, it's really not me in my own power, but the Lord (in the form of the Holy Spirit) working through me.

Human common sense is too dependent on fleshly desires that can lead us into big trouble. People can rationalize anything. The Bible also teaches that even our righteousness is like filthy rags to God, so there's no way we can be good enough on our own.

I dont say dictate, but puts guidelines on how to live our life for our own benefit and interest.
But at the end of the day my religion has given me the choice of how i would want to dictate my life.
Follow all the guidelines or not.

My religion doesn't dictate what I do, but it gives suggestions on how life could be better, and how your body could feel better. I follow it because it helps me feel better about myself, and about life in general. I do use common sense most of the time.

Actually God is the one who teaches me (not dictates) how I should live. The trouble and anguish in the world should make it vitally clear to you what happens when we push God aside and try to live by what you call common sense.

Real sense isn't common -- it's God directed thinking, and there's nothing common about the way God thinks.

I think of it this way: to get something in return, I must do certain things... I still have the choice if I want to do those things or not, but to get the end result, I need to do those certain things.
I would say my religion - I am a Mormon, LDS member - is a lifestyle and not just a set of beliefs... my beliefs are shown by the way I live my life.

if u have a new gadget such as a mobile phone, does this mean that the user guide dictates what u should do, it`s a guide and u chose what to follow and what not to follow. if there wasn`t a user friendly guide u would blame the manufacturer for it. it`s for your own good. and does not dictate, but only guide you through life the product of Allah almighty.

Religion dictates how we can live our life.
Should we? That's up to you.
