ok, this is purely hypothetical and non religious so please do not quote from any books-
you are wandering round the local cave and you come across a fully grown male lion that happens to have a thorn in its paw, what do you do???

Pause for a second in fear and confusion. I know that their aren't any caves near by, but hear I am. I found a cave. Also, what is a lion doing in the States? Must have escaped from the zoo. Then I would run away so it wouldn't maul me to death.

First, call Ripley's because there's never been a report of a Lion in Nevada, outside of a zoo.
Second, back away slowly & hope the lion doesn't pounce on me and later, pick his teeth with one of my ribs.
And finally, notify local wildlife authorities so they can tranquilize, give first aid to, and release the lion in an appropriate location.

Back away slowly, wondering how in the world a lion got loose in upstate NY. Once I got out of there, I'd call 911 to get animal control.

Lions have been known to eat people.
You get out the tranq. gun that you normally carry around and nail him with a dose. THen you pull the thorn out if you are a nice person. If you are one of the animal commentary flim producers, you leave him to suffer and be overcome by hyenas b/c it's natures way.

Hurt animals are very protective. I would see if the lion would let me near him and I would see if I could help the thing. If I couldn't, I would contact someone to get some help because I wouldn't want the animal to suffer.

I back out Slooooowwwwwwly.... and then run like hell... an injured lion is nothing to mess with.... in modern context... I would then notify local state game people and try to get professional help for the poor lion.

I would run. the lion would definitely be angry. Stuck in an enclosed space and with a thorn in it's paw and a predator in front of it. I wouldn't want to be there to see what happens.

I'd need more data. Is the lion on its feet and roaring? Lying down? Unconscious?
You can't expect an animal to understand something like gratitude (like in some story) so I'd only remove the thorn if it was safe to do so.

Not enough information to answer. Do I have my spear? Does the thorn cause enough pain/discomfort for him to not be a threat? Is the lion my pet?

As an atheist - I call up a good Christian to help out that poor lion and then get eaten while I leave.
