Flea collars do NOT work, no matter how expensive! The fleas actually have to walk over the collar to die - so they just avoid the neck area!! The very theory of their use is flawed.
Anything you get from a pet store, anything at all, is not going to work. Reason being, stores are not licensed to sell the appropriate drugs - and so called 'flea treatments' they sell are just random pesticides not suited for flea treatment or application to animals. Stay far away from.
What you need is a veterinary spot-on like Frontline, Revolution, Advantage or Advocate. These are modern chemicals, specifially formulated, that work and are safe. BUT you need to make sure it gets on the skin of your animal, not the fur!! It needs to make contact with the skin so it can spread throughout the entire skin and take action.
It's also very important to treat your house - again, stay away from pet store stuff!! Indorex, Acclaim and Staykil are all usefl sprays, but you may well need to treat more than once, 10 days apart, to get the newly hatched flea eggs. If you can get hold of Skoosh spray (any vets should be able to order it in, it's new) , this does kill eggs and larvae.

As someone else mentioned you can't just treat the dog but treat the environment too. This includes the house and most importantly the yard. Make sure to keep your dog and any other animals out of the treated areas until it's dry. Advantage works great in combination with treating the environment. It's not an instant flea killer though as it breaks the flea's reproduction cycle. Do not use any other flea treatments on your pet while using this product, this even includes flea shampoos. Also, don't use Advantage on cats. I think if you treat your yard, house and your dog (and any other pets you may have) you will find the problem solved. If not then talk to your Vet about the situation. Good luck.

i might say bomb the domicile, which demands you taking the cats and yourselves out of the domicile for some hours, and rather of flea collars, try Frontline. it works dazzling. you ought to purchase it at any vet medical institution. It runs around $17 yet very well worth the money. actually all you do is prepare the product to the decrease back of the cat (around the neck section the place it can not lick it off). The fleas on the cat, chew the cat and then they die. It additionally kills the eggs to resign the fleas from producing. wish this helps. stable luck! Fleas are nasty little creatures!

A persistent infestation of external parasites (fleas) can also be a clue to an internal parasite problem. Have your vet worm your dog and include something for tape worms also. Get rid of the inside worms, and your dog's immune system may be able to get rid of the outside fleas.

Usually, if you spray the back yard with a good flea killer (Ortho and Cutter make pretty good ones), and use Frontline on the dog, you're ok. In my experience, flea collars are worthless, and the cheap drops are, too. Frontline seems to work on my dogs.

Okay here is what you have to do:
1st have your vet dispense some Capstar--pill for fleas that will start to work in 30min. it will kill fleas for 5 hours/then treat with frontline, advantix etc.
2nd you will need to bomb you house and treat your yard
fleas lay eggs that hatch every 3 weeks, so if you have carpet in your house every 3 weeks you will have new fleas same goes for the yard. The flea med can only do so much but if you have an infestation you have to treat everything.
Good Luck!

Have your vet prescribe something for the fleas on your dog.
Have your house and yard treated for fleas professionally. It's cheaper in the long run.

Did you use the drips on the back from a vet or the stuff from the store?
The stuff from the store doesnt have the ingredients to actually kill the fleas.
Next she is probably picking them up from both the house and yard.
You can bomb the house (get allpets out of house before and for a certain number of hours after)
And there is stuff you can buy to use on you yard.

Have you tried garlic? You can buy garlic capsules for your dog. I have used garlic capsules on my dogs for the past 4 years - we have never had a case of fleas in all that time.
You may have to flea bomb the house to kill fleas in carpets etc, but the garlic should prevent the fleas biting your dog.
Good luck!

That stuff you apply behind the shoulder blades is the most effective. But it sounds like whatever YARD they play in might be infested. So they keep getting them. Spray for flees outside, make sure your fir people are safe from the spray for half a day and then... water outside OFTEN. That keeps flees away the best.
