No, but the more you download, the more likely you are to get noticed. Using Limewire to download music is illegal, and if you get caught the minimum fine is $750.00 per song. A woman in Minnesota was recently fined $9000.00 per song for downloading 24 songs illegally. The safest thing to do is to download legally - pay for it instead of stealing. There's amazon.com, walmart.com and the iTunes store, among other legal sites.

There are millions upon millions of people downloading different kinds of material all over the world. I would think the chances of getting caught are miniscual. About as much chance as winning the lottery. Oops sorry got to go theres a knock at the door. No you dont have to pay

Limewire is illegal get caught and each song will cost you a bundle in fines anywhere for $50 to &1000 per song

I don't know if they would throw you in jail. Most music pirating results in heavy heavy fines (hundreds of thousands even) of dollars. I wouldn't use limewire anyways. Loads of crap/ harmful viruses. Learn to use crafty Google searches to find particular Mp3 files. It's safer that way too.

So far it's never happened to me and, although I haven't downloaded that many, my step-son uses it all the time and he doesn't have any trouble.
