would i have been in my rights to call the cops on him for the following-
Harassment:
Religious harassment
Verbal, psychological or physical harassment's used against targets because they choose to practice a specific religion. ****Religious harassment can also include forced and involuntary conversions.****
Noise Pollution
The listeners attribute to the sound influences annoyance, so that, if listeners dislike the noise content, they are annoyed. What is music to one is noise to another
If the sound causes activity interference, noise is more likely to annoy
If listeners feel they can control the noise source, the noise is less likely to be annoying
If listeners believe that the noise is subject to third-party control, including police, but control has failed, they are more annoyed.
Contextual sound. If the sound is appropriate for the activity it is in context. If one is at an outdoor picnic the race track noise will produce adverse psychological and physical effects

the preaching was in a public place, where i was unable to leave due to it being my form of transportation. I was forced to listen to sermon about hell, fire and brimstone, against my will, which was quite agrivitating and annoying.

now mind you, i dont have a big issue when its a place where im not forced to sit and listen, Being that he chose a place, where he knew people would be gathered for periods of time while waiting for the train, it was planned to trap them into listening to his fire and brimstone preaching, which is why i believe it was harassment. A street corner your not forced to sit and listen to it for 10-15 minutes, maybe 2 while your waiting for the stop light to change, but a bus stop or train station, or in front of a restraunt or something of that nature is harassing the people who gather there.

you are correct in feeling that the kind of activity you describe is NOT appropriate.... and I will state emphatically that it is inappropriate, in the context you describe, for any professing The True Christian Faith... I would find it difficult to believe that individual was mentally stable... while he may be a True Christian. even we are subject to the deterioration of mental faculties like every one else... have pity on him... but you are within your rights to report him... I would think in that case it was not a lawful act... it certainly is NOT The Way The Good News is to be spread.

No. Get over it.
If people called the cops about everything that technically constitues a misdemeanor offense, they'd be too busy dealing with petty crimes to deal with the serious ones.
This "preacher" also has the rights to freedom of speech and religion. He wasn't talking directly to you either, which throws religious harassment out. He was simply professing his own religion; not bashing you for yours.

Truth gets scoffed and lies get praised... but that's the fallen world we live in. Meanwhile Al Gore gets a peace prize for things he did not deserve at all... go figure.
Though, I must say, the preacher in question you are talking about could have been more tactful. Scare tactics aren't very effective... wish more people realized this.

I doubt the police would do anything.
Because then they would have to remove every person with an MP3 player that is so loud others can hear it and object to their choice of music.
What about that person's right to free speech?
I support his right to speak wherever he wishes, especially in a public arena for which he pays taxes.

Don't ya just hate it when the truth jumps up and bites you right on the..........
I cannot believe that you could be so "harmed" by the man doing what he is called to do. You are still serving the same one you were at the time so hang on to the darkness with all your strength. No one can force you to accept the facts and it is sad that one should have to "fight" for their "right" to stay in the dark.

If it was a public place then he had a right to be there.
Do you call the cops about a car's polution or noise on a public street?

When your in traffic, and the car next to you is blaring it's sub-woofers so loud....that your teeth shatter.....do you have the right to call the police on him because you don't want to hear the music?
Same thing goes for preaching in public......
Free speech is protected in this country.......and we Christians do not check our proselytizing hats at the door in the public forum

Hey, i'm probably as far away as possible from that person's views..
But as far as I'm concerned, his message may be disagreeable, but he and everyone else who wants to talk in public has the right to do so.
People in other places die for that right.

Technically, he was exercising his Freedom of Speech. I don't think a jury in the world would convict him unless he did something more than stand there and talk.
