Sometimes those water bottles with the balls in the spout will clog up. Tap on the ball to loosen it up to be sure he can get water. They do not drink an excessive amount, so it could be that he is drinking, just not as much as you expect. You can give him apple and other fruits vegetables, as well. Those are excellent sources of vitamins and moisture. Any nut, fruit, vegetable, or grain bred is good to offer. Avoid leafy veggies like lettuce, though, since they can cause diarrhea. Dog biscuits are great treats, too. They help wear down the teeth and help keep the hamster from biting on the cage wire.

Grapes, just one or two at a time. Some hamsters prefer them cut in half. Some will eat a little lettuce, romaine, carrots, washed raw veggies, salad stuff, but don't put in too much at a time or it rots. That gives them additional moisture sources. For variety, give him a few Cheerios or nonsweetened cereal, whatever you're eating.

The seeds in the hamster mix contain A LOT of moisture. Don't worry if he's not drinking a lot. He won't dehydrate himself.
Feeding more wet food (fruit and mosit veggies) may give him wet tail. So be careful.
Make sure you vary his diet with dry foods such as oats and lab blocks.

Do not feed them lettuce! It's very dangerous! My hamster LOVES pineapple. He also loves dried fruit, peanuts, raisins, and peaches.
