1. hes saying he wants knoledge and wisdom not fame

2. learning never stops and you must stay current if your going to teach others

On the first one, he might mean that he is more concerned with getting to know others than he is his own fame.

On the second he might mean that anyone who aspires to teach others should be always remain curious and learning themselves.

I think both sayings are pretty wise.
